Passion. Jealousy. Desire. Spanning a lifetime of love, horror, passion, and tragedy, the characters you will come to love and hate will take you on a journey of epic proportions. Times are rough, days are dark, and life is anything but easy. But nothing good ever comes easy, anyway!
I was not to sure about the book at the beginning. The style of writing seemed so simplistic so I assumed the story would be that way too. I was so wrong! I loved how the story seemingly was going one way but then surprised me when it didn’t. The characters for the most part were believable which drew me to the story. I became emotionally invested in the characters. I even found myself actually crying. The ending surprised me and not how I wanted it to end:( Truth was I didn’t want it to end. Great series of books it made me feel like it could be made into a mini series (no joke) like the “Thorn Birds.”
This book was a delight. It took twists and turns that were unexpected. Very enjoyable story that kept my interest from beginning to end. Recommend this book!
Grace is lucky she lived as long as she did considering being married at 14, and having all those babies, living with an abusive father and later husband. I wish she had a little more grit when it came to Claire, there always needs to be a witch in a storyline.... Jacob is a controller and obsessed with Grace, don't get me wrong I loved reading about this dysfunctional backwoods family with the twists and turns I didn't expect, will read more of this authors work.
First book to be read by the author Jaime Lorie Goza. I wouldn't consider this a dark historical, but I found myself to enjoy this very much. I will say the first two books I found tough to get through because some of it got little boring. However around book 3, I did not stop reading.
This was a very interesting and different approach to romance. The story of one woman who lived two very different lives keeps the reader engaged. I really enjoyed the historical aspects and the contrasts between country and city life in early 1900's Ireland. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys history, romance and family sagas.
Kind of a roller coaster.A bit brutal at times but I felt the need to finish. It's dark, but does hold your interest. Was surprised of the outcome of the main character,Grace. It will hold your interest.
