This book has been growing over the years out of several resources. Firstly, the courses in number theory and modern algebra I had occasionally been teaching at UNC Charlotte. Secondly, my interest to invent mathematical problems for competitions, and invent and pose problems for individual work with gifted students. After being forced to retire about two years ago because of health reasons, I did continue to occupy myself with these topics, and I learned more substantially from the work of Gauss on quadratic reciprocity and on the construction of Fermat polygons. Too, I did take up numerical computation with the computer language of Dr. Racket, which is based on Lisp and freely available on the internet.
Have you ever wondered what a good Math book looks like? The perfect example would definitely be “Number Theory and Modern Algebra Notes” written by Franz Rothe. It is his own personal approach on the subject and you will ultimately know how legitimate it is just by looking at his given examples.
Just by starting to read his Introduction section, you can tell the author’s love for his field. He leads as a good example to all other Math book authors because he composes his Math problems on his own and explains every topic intently with his own knowledge and understanding. In this way, the readers would be able to understand better. I know that in my case, I did.
I always get happy if I come across a good Math book that makes me understand complex topics. I recommend this to all of those who find Algebra hard. If you read this, you will realize it is not that hard after all.
Through Franz Rothe, I have found the best teacher! I never thought that I would encounter my favorite teacher through a book. I know I have never met him, but I am proud to say that I learned so much from this book, that is why I keep on telling my colleagues how he is my favorite teacher.
If you are seeking a clear and better grasp of a certain topic on Algebra, you better find this book. I keep on wishing that all of my Math book and reviewers I kept on wishing that all of my Math books and reviewers are all written by Franz Rothe. Maybe in that way, I could understand everything better.
Levity aside though, Franz’s intellect really reeks in this book. Each page screams “Franz Rothe is a Math genius.” I am forever keeping this book, and I would be happy to share it to those who need it.
I just came across this book as I was looking for some notes for my Algebra class. It amazed me. Just by scanning through the first pages, I was so sure in my mind to immediately purchase the book because it looks like something I would definitely need in my journey as a Math student.
Aside from the book's incredible high level of face validity, I have come to realize the author's way of approaching the number theory is very interesting. The way he gave different problems with complete and step by step solution is also overwhelming. It made me question why al math book aren't like that.
I salute Franz Rothe, the author, for being the genius that he is. Everything about his book inspired me to be better at my field. I am sure he inspires so many people with his expertise. If I could meet him in person, I would have to give him a round of applause for the great job he has done.
If you are currently enrolled in a program related to Algebra or any field of Mathematics, I am pretty sure you will enjoy this book. If you aren’t studying the said field but still find the topic interesting, then you will enjoy this book as equally. The beauty of this book is the way it is written by Franz Rothe. He explains the concept so well in a very unmatched manner. If you love the subject, you will get hooked with his explanations and examples.
This book should be part of every reviewees’ and reviewers’ book shelves! I have to be honest and say that I have never seen any book that gives so much knowledge on the number theory and different topics on Algebra. I am happy I have stumbled upon this book. Be sure to check it out!
If you are in the field of Mathematics, whether you are a student or a teacher, or merely just someone who is bound to be interested with Algebra, I would be completely surprised if you have not read Franz Rothe’s personal approach on the number theory and his notes on Algebra.
This book is incredibly good. I am telling you; this book will make you love Math even more. If you don’t like Math, this book will make you think otherwise. I think that is one of my evidence of a good Math book – something that will make you realize that Math is not so hard after all, but in fact, very interesting. That is what Franz Rothe did to my thoughts while I am checking out this book. Kudos to Franz for a job well done!
I am currently a senior high school student, and to be honest, I am currently having a hard with all my Math subjects. I am planning to pursue a degree related to Math and I have to catch up. This book helped me a lot.
I have learned so much about different theorems, Jacobi symbols, Fermat numbers and many more! My dad was right. This book is indeed helpful. It’s not just about getting familiar with the concepts and just reading about it. It is also about encountering a personal approach by a Math genius. It feeds your brain with the right supplements.
To all the students out there taking up Math-related courses, this book is for us. Better put this next in line on your queue of “what to read next.”
Franz Rothe's take on the number theory impresses me very much. I have never found a book that helped me so much with my studies and my field of program. If there's anything that made me understood Algebra better, it would be this book.
I am fond of the portion about Quadratic Residues quite enjoyable. I believe they are explained all too well. They have different given problems with different given solutions. They even indicate the proof.
It has everything an educational book could ever ask for.
If you are looking for some legitimate Algebra notes, and a more intellectual approach on the Number Theory, I suggest you better check out this brilliant gem by Franz Rothe!
I have been looking for the perfect Algebra book and one that explains the Number Theory well. I really like this book. It has helped me and my classmates on all of our homeworks and assignments.
If you ask me why I am failrly amazed by this sought to be a "typical" Math book, I would probably say it's because of Franz Rothe's superbly amazing way of having to explain each concept in a way that everyone else could easily understand. I have never seen such Algebra notes that explains everything so constructively and briefly.
I hope if you are in the field of Mathematics, have a peek at this book. It would help you a lot.
