Women on Top #1

The Plumber and Her Billionaire

Rate this book
Two people from very different worlds trying for the almost impossible—a future together.

Tegan McCall hasn’t got time for men. She’s too busy trying to save the failing plumbing company that she inherited from her dad. But when she meets Blake Stone, she’s thrown. Not only is he off-the-radar hot, but he actually listens when she tells him about her design concepts. It’s a shame he can’t save her company.

Billionaire Blake Stone is blown away by Tegan. This she-warrior is so different from the glossy, vacant women who usually drift through his life. He offers her a job fitting bathrooms in his high-end hotel in Canada’s premium ski resort. Sure, the deadlines are tight and Tegan’s company has limited resources, but he’s still being business-minded. And there’s no way that Tegan will ever find out that he owns the hotel or has awarded her the contract, right?

Tegan moves to Whistler to work on the hotel, but things aren’t what they appear. She doesn’t get to meet the hotel’s mysterious owner, and the guy whom she deals with is unfriendly, even hostile. Her suspicions are aroused and soon she’s investigating…and uncovering things people would rather stayed buried.

Blake and Tegan are two people from very different worlds. If they want any chance of a future together, they’ll have to navigate not just sabotage and deceit—but lust and love.

Reader advisory: This book contains references to the death of the heroine’s father, car crashes and a mild reference to suicidal ideation. There is a scene of attempted murder by strangulation.

M/F Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Blake is used to people doing what he wants, when he wants it. While he is not new to money, he is new to the hotel business and what goes in to running and building a successful one.

Tegan is a woman in a man's world. She knows it, but despite that, she made a death bed promise to her dad and she's hoping not to fail. Her crew are with her, but she also knows that it will be difficult to keep her business afloat without something more than her store and the few jobs she's had.

When Tegan meets Blake, they don't hit it off right away. But, Blake sees something in her and in order to get her to work on his new business, he knows she can't know the truth. Tegan does her best to keep her word and despite the obstacles that block her path, in the end, she and Blake will have to decide if their paths will converge or diverge.

This story was a sweet cinderella type story. There was your typical angst and the couple has a few obstacles to overcome. And, while I did enjoy the main characters, the story was predictable. However, it was a cute take on a childhood story.

Blake & Tegan

All Tegan needed was a chance to save her dads failing plumbing business. She was struggling with it and trying to keep her mother occupied since her dad had died and left Tegan the business together with its problems.
She was urgently called out for an urgent problem and after fixing the tap, met Blake, the wealthy owner. He was enamoured with her and arranged an opportunity to give a presentation on installing the bathrooms for his new hotel. She does not know this and is selected.
Tegan meets problem after problem head on and finally works out that it was the project manager responsible. Other things happen to make this an enjoyable read. The book starts off captivating the reader and holds you until the last word.
