I've added a new identification guide to my stack of go-tos.
Edible Mushrooms Of Ontario is great. It is written for the beginner but I love it because: it's specifically my region, it is consistent and complete in the way it presents each species. It includes a very detailed description of each plus descriptions of all their look-a-likes. The best thing about it is that it describes the differences between the lookalikes which makes it very easy to be sure of what you've got.

I've read many guides to edible Mushrooms and I never get into them. I usually get bored and don't finish them, or they focus on things that don't grow here or they don't develop a consistent way of describing species and their descriptions just don't stick to my brain.

I've read many books on Boletes and taken classes online and they still all looked the same to me. After reading this I feel far more confident in what features to look for in a bolete.

I've used this book to learn 6 new to me boletes. It's given be tools to appreciate bolete anatomy that i'm shocked I couldn't see before.

OK rain, I'm ready. Show me what you got.
