When Elizabeth Bennet receives an unexpected visitor during her stay at Hunsford her emotions are thrown in a turmoil. What could be the meaning of the mysterious advice she was given? Unaware that she has attracted the attentions of the one man she is determined to despise, she soon finds herself in a quandary when they are unexpectedly thrown together due to a matter of some importance and it turns out that all her conclusions about Fitzwilliam Darcy have been so very wrong.
The plot is full of confusion but there is even more in the writing. There seems to very little editing of the story and I found it boring and hard to follow.
The last couple of pages have the least erotic and sensual sex scene I think I’ve ever read.
In this Pride and Predjudice variation, Anne de Bourgh finds the opportunity to give Elizabeth some advice at the start of her visit - her shy cousin Fitzwilliam is clumsy with the ladies. Given the fact that Elizabeth doesn't know Darcy's first name she assumes she is talking about the Colonel. With this adjusted lens, she observes the men visiting Rosings Park.
For his part, Darcy is trying to not be attracted to Elizabeth and struggling with his actions related to the Bingley/Jane situation. As he confesses, and they start work together to solve the situation, Elizabeth also starts to see the good in Darcy. With some freak illness and kismet our dear couple finds their happily ever after.
The intimate in this title is not so much. The author is rather explicit about anatomy of attraction with one steamy wedding night scene.
I really liked the actual story. It is not one of the usual point- and senseless P&P intimates that merely have the names of the characters slapped on it but is otherwise ridiculous. No, here Anne de Bourgh, not at all inclined to marry Darcy other than her mother (naturally), realises that he is head over heels for Elizabeth and decides to help him along a little. This, however, leads to a misunderstanding, since Elizabeth is unaware that Darcy's first name is Fitzwilliam, and she consequently thinks, particularly considering that Lady Catherine has voiced her wishes more than once at this point, the younger lady is talking about Colonel Fitzwilliam. As both Darcy and Elizabeth completely talk past one another some funny situations arise that ultimately bring them closer. So, of course, ODC ends up in the end and they have their HEA. The only thing that was really awkwardly done was the intimate part at the end (and that's the only intimate part, btw, the rest is pretty much squeaky clean) I could've passed on it and the story could've done without it anyway and just ended with the marriage. Actually, I merely skimmed this part after a couple of sentences. It didn't influence my rating.
The editing could've been better, and yet, it was not so distracting as to take away from the tale told. - So all in all a 3.5 star read rounded up to 4 stars.
Who has the crush in Elizabeth? Who is Anne really talking about? Who is the real Darcy? So many questions pop in your head when reading this story. I loved how this author wrote her answers in such a tantalizing way. I found how Darcy and Elizabeth became friends in Kent was fantastic. I liked how Darcy brought Bing key back to Jane. Very interesting, will keep you turning the pages.
