Biblical Insight to Tough Questions: Volume 1

Rate this book

If we want to change the culture for Christ, we must change people. But human words cannot change human hearts.

The good news is that God’s Spirit can use God’s word to convict of sin and transform souls.

The Lord promises that his word “will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11 NIV).

In a culture that has abandoned the concept of absolute truth, “every word of God proves true” (Proverbs 30:5). If we engage cultural issues with biblical truth, we must be confident that the Bible is true. We need to be able to explain why we trust its words.

And we need to be able to answer questions about Scripture, like the ten contained in this first volume of Biblical Insights to Tough Questions:

Where did God come from?
Is there only one way to God?
Isn’t the Bible filled with contradictions?
How do we know Jesus is the Son of God?
Can we believe in miracles today?
What happens to people who have never heard of Jesus?
Is hell real? How could a loving God send anyone there?
What is the "unpardonable" sin?
What does the Bible say about homosexuality?
How can I know the will of God?

N.T. Wright is one of the most brilliant and acclaimed scholars in the world. Yet his life motto is simple: “The Bible is the book of my life. It’s the book I live with, the book I live by, the book I want to die by.”

God’s word says, “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect” (1Peter 3:15).

To that end, may this material better prepare you to answer the tough questions—with “gentleness and respect.”
