Developing Quality IEPs: A Case-Based Tutorial is a CD-ROM structured to walk general and special education teachers through the development of IEPs and the criteria necessary to assess their quality. Part One helps to answer questions that lay a foundation for creating an IEP, such as: what is an IEP, why is it required by law and what are the components identified by IDEA that should be included in an IEP. In Part Two, users can complete a tutorial on how to identify a student's "Present Level of Performance" (PLOP). Part Three requires them to create the essential components of an IEP for six different children of differing ages and abilities. Step-by-step instruction and sample answers are provided for both tutorials to aid in the process. Finally, in Part Four are a variety of resources including articles, IEP forms, weblinks and an IEP checklist. Users have the ability to print out their answers to submit for an assignment or to keep as a reference. This CD-ROM is a valuable and essential resource for any teacher working with special needs students.
