In the streets of New York City, The Christ family is considered the First Family of the underworld. At the top of the Who’s Who list, Roderick Christ, walks, talks and looks like cash money. On his arm is Julia Martinez-Christ, his trophy wife and most prized possession. On the outside looking in, one may pray for the life that the Christ’s have but Julia only uses four words to describe where they are now. Started from the bottom. Unlike, Rod she remembers where they come from and in fact she would gladly give up her ten bedroom mansion for that one bedroom in the projects. As their love holds on by a thin string, Julia still continues to stand by her husband’s side. Roderick’s lifestyle is magnified to the public but private to family however Julia knows who he is and what he does but continues to underestimate his power and connections. When things go left and Roderick is left fighting for his life, Julia stays on her knees in prayer begging God for a miracle. On the 15th floor in the Marshall Memorial Hospital, a figure continues to appear and Julia notices her but never says anything, as days turned into weeks and weeks become months, Julia is compelled to ask this girl “Who are you and why are you here?” The answer that she receives suddenly turns Julia’s perfect little life upside down. In “The Christ Family” readers are invited to enter the world of storytelling, the perfect urban fairytale is told from the mouths of the ones who were painted the magical story, perception isn’t always what it seems, neither is the idea of love and happily ever after.

The way I ate this book up today was not even funny. Rod and Julia took me through it!! I couldn’t stand that man, like at all🤯😤. While I liked this book, I felt like it took too long to actually come together. I don’t think the Underworld was mentioned until about 40% in and I didn’t really get a good grasp of how Rod fit in with the crew. And Julia was very indecisive, to me, she gave Rod too many chances because when he woke up in the hospital he would have been served with the papers - because absolutely not!🤬 This was a rare time that I was praying for the MMCs downfall, lol.

This story was wild. The twist I didn't even see. Julia was like some women I have known in my life. I really liked her character. I would highly recommend this book.
This was my least favorite of the series and almost felt like a filler book to me. Julia, a promising track star from Brooklyn, meets Rod....an up and coming dope boy. After a one night stand that ended her life as she knew it....fate had them meet up again a year later....and after he finds out that they shared more than a sexual encounter....he changes her life for good. She is now the kept wife of a Don, but she's tired of playing second fiddle to his lifestyle and his whores. The book was fast paced and kept me reading to see what happened next but overall this book fell short for me. I'm hoping Stranger In My Eyes makes up for this one.
What a STORYLINE wow never be satisfied with what you have .....ruin his family and still was unhappy karma got his azz .....chyna played second and what it got her very good for her ass home wrecker Julia finally got her freedom...and her HAPPINESS out freaking standing
I liked this book, but didn't see the point of Roderick being introduced. We never learned why Polo wanted him(Rod)murdered. And why didn't Chyna tell Rod what she knew and what was up with Chynas brother? Lots of open ended questions...
The story of Roderick and Julia Christ was wild to say the least. Julia is the young girl who had a promising future. One encounter with Roderick Christ changed that forever. The action in this series is picking up and the plot twist that follows was unexpected. The saying keep your friends close and your enemies closer played throughout this book. Throughout the book we see Julia grow from the young girl making her way to a strong woman overcoming lies and infidelity. We have all seen a Julia in our life. Trying to pick up the pieces of a broken heart. Roderick was my least favorite character. He was selfish and a narcissist and that’s what ultimately led to his downfall. Overall I’m glad Julia was able to find love and peace. I was rooting for her.
Where do I start? When you have a ghost organization like the Underworld who prides themselves on moving undetected: trust, honesty, and loyalty is a MUST. Roderick Christ was a candidate brought into the UW but he raised a lot of red flags and that is problematic to the members of the Underworld. Roderick’s dishonesty was also felt by his estranged wife Julia which led to marital issues. The other books before this one, spoke about the development of relationships with UW members but this book spoke about relationship development and relationship downfall. It also has some action in it which was not present in the other books. The series is picking up!
OK, I BOUGHT THIS BOOK FROM A USED BOOK SALE UNAWARE THAT THIS WAS A PART OF A SERIES & ONLY GOT A CHANCE TO CRACK THE BOOK OPEN YESTERDAY WHILE MY CAR WAS IN THE AUTO SHOP GETTING NEW TIRES & BRAKE WORK. IT KEPT ME ENTERTAINED DESPITE MY ATTENTION BEING SPLIT BETWEEN THE BOOK & WATCHING THE TECHS WORK ON MY CAR (MAKING SURE THE MECHANICS DIDN'T BREAK NOTHING & CLAIM THAT IT WAS ALREADY BROKEN WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR IN & NEEDED REPAIR FOR AN ABSURD AMOUNT OF $$$! IYKYK, LADIES!) DESPITE MY ATTENTION BEING SPLIT WHILE READING THE BOOK, IT CAPTURED MY ATTENTION ENOUGH TO WANT TO READ THE BOOKS THAT PRECEDE & SUCCEEDED IT. BB TO PROPERLY REVIEW.......
At first i was mad that the underworld was so mad at Rod his personal performance wasn’t gonna get then caught up but then when it came out that Nas was the one who tried to kill him first i was like ohhh so they never really wanted him to join buuuuut was giving him a second chance at life and it would if worked has he left chY alone and focused on his wife and kids, I’m glad JULIA got her happy ending
This book was the inner workings of The Christ Family ... Roderick, his wife, Julia, and his girlfriend, Chyna. To say the least, it was a whole mess but thank God for passing from this life to the next ... R.I.P. Roderick Christ! Children were hurt due partly to adults refusing to act as such! I was particularly sorry for baby Damon's because his father murdered his mother in front of him!
Wow is all I can say on this novel! Julia and Roderick went through so much all because Rod couldn't be faithful. Chyna wow so tragic but karma is a real thing! Then to know how he got shot the first time, I was like wow! I was so glad Julia got her happy ending after all the pain she went through. This one was sad ruthless and just a lot of hurt and pain! I really wanted to know who ended up with Ramone too. Another great read!
Julia Martinez met and married Roderick Christ. His character was unstable and he wasn't a caring man to the people in his life. KARMA got that a$$ though. And now Julia and her children, Jordan & Maria, moved to Atlanta where Star is a current Spelman student. They ended up moving to a new home with Derrick, Julia's new 💘.
I can so relate to Julia on a real life level. I happen to have 3 kids by a dude named Rodericus instead of Roderick. And he was cheating disrespectful good for nothing dude. Who actually don't take care of his kids. Julia was me and I was her minus the drug game and money. Loved she got her happy ending, just as I did.
Rod got everything he deserved to happen to him and his baby mama. What ever happened to their son romone though. Julia was to good for him even when she was younger he didn't respect her. I know she got all of his stuff in the end and she finally found her happily ever after way in Atlanta.
Such a good story. Julia was getting on my nerves but nobody on the outside really understands the cognitive dissonance that comes with being with someone manipulative for so long. Very pleasing ending. I can’t wait to see how the rest of this series plays out in the underworld
Wow!! Roderick (Rod) is married to Julia and his side piece is Chyna. There is so much going on in this book. The Christ Family I have no words for how good this book is. This series just keeps getting better and better. I'm enjoying reading this series very much it's excellent 🥰.
Action throughout. Love and lost. Family. Plenty of hot sex. By the time you finish this book you will see that money and expensive things don't make you happy. You have to know your worth.
Roderick is a narcissist. Julia got involved with him too early and was unable to come into her own until later in life. Very emotionally abusive relationship. Good story.
Rod had death in him. I couldn't believe he tripped out like he did. His mama tried to tell him, and Chyna did also. Julia just did not care anymore. Good job. On to the next book of this series.
Roderick put the f in f boy and he deserved exactly what he got. I was proud of Jules and her moving on and finding herself. The more I learn about the underworld the more I see that their protection comes at a cost!
This whole series is so good so far! I really liked this book! Rod was a hot mess! And Julia made me mad 😠 because she went back so that made her weak after the way he treated her! Chyna knew she was wrong messing with a married man., Point. Blank. Period.
Rod gave me snake vibes right off the back. Rod took advantage of Jules, he saw an opportunity to get a young girl thinking he could control her. I'm so happy she learned that living for herself was always the key to her happiness.
Another banger … I read all the under books, and I waiting to to see how Roderick , Julie and Chy would tie into under ground . This book to me on emotional roll coaster well done Nako
Roderick Christ is all I can say uh uh uh he in a nutshell is something else like woah! Didn’t expect the book to twist and turn like it did however I enjoyed it. Slowly piecing this puzzle together.
I am convinced The Underworld doesn't understand the definition of "Brotherhood", "Loyalty" or "Family" for as much as they throw em around but I digress.
However, the pure gems 💎 Nako dropped 🫳🏾 on this book 📖 honey made up for all the backstabbing and betrayal.
This book was a great addition to the series. Julia made me mad for just how loyal she was to the wrong man. Rod’s downfall was great to see I haven’t hated a character that much in a long time.
