Can he keep his hands off her long enough to catch a killer?

Detective Janey Davis is trying to find a killer. When another body turns up outside the small town of Liberty, Indiana, she’s sent to investigate. Nothing prepares her for what she finds there...and it has nothing to do with the case she’s working on. It’s the deputy who’s been assigned to tag along on her investigation.

Kyle Reed has been a sheriff’s deputy since returning from the Army ten years ago. He loves his job and the small town of Liberty, which is why he’s determined to help Detective Davis find out who murdered a man and dumped his body on the side of a country road. What he wasn’t prepared for was the undeniable chemistry between them.

After convincing her to attend a get-together with him at a friend’s farm, Kyle and Janey give in to their passion. The problem is, he doesn’t want just one night. Can he convince her to give a relationship between them a chance?

Sherri picked up her first romance novel when she was twelve and immediately she was hooked. She would stay up reading long after everyone else in her house had gone to bed, needing to see the hero and heroine get their happily ever after. But Sherri never imagined becoming an author.

At the age of thirty, all that changed. After getting frustrated with the direction a television show was taking two of its characters, Sherri decided to try her hand at writing an alternative ending to give the characters the happy ending they deserved.

Since then, writing has become a creative outlet that allows her to explore a wide range of emotions, while having fun taking her characters through all the twists and turns she can create. Several years ago, I came across an author venturing into erotica, Ms. Hayes. Since my specialty genre is BDSM, I tend to be a bit more critical with kinky books. Whilst memorable, Ms. Hayes' erotic series did not tap my kink button. Her writing style caught my attention because I could see the potential. When this latest book came across my virtual desk, I admit I did not read the blurb. I went in cold and figured it would be another gentle sugarkink story. I purposely ignored any spoilers or details from the author. When I read this book, for the first few chapters, I kept wondering when the BDSM would show up. Confused, I pressed on to find myself completely riveted to this romantic suspense. Do not let the title fool you, this is more than just a romance. I believe Ms. Hayes has found her niche. I loved this book.

Ms. Hayes' writing style has tightened over the years. The growth in her voice and character development is evident in both Janey and Kyle's dialogue and history. I found myself drawn to both of these characters who are mature with perhaps a bit of a chip on their shoulder. Their initial interaction was a bit rough and as they began to work together, I focused more on the suspense/mystery part rather than their budding romance. For me, this title is not so much seducing Janey as seducing the Reader. I enjoy mysteries and suspense. Ms. Hayes did a wonderful job generating the suspense. The clues and following the characters' point of view to solve the crime kept my mind actively engaged. I wanted to figure it out before either Kyle or Janey.

There is more to this story than just romance and a murder to solve. Ms. Hayes shows the pros and cons of living in a small town versus the "big city". The way she builds the world where Kyle lives versus Janey is so realistic I can picture them in my mind. I liked that there was no white knight saving plot device as Janey is independent and in no need of saving. Instead, Janey is living a full life in the city and the romantic conflict comes with whether or not she can give up her life in the city for the slower pace of life of Kyle's. This realistic situation makes Janey more relatable as well as gives the contemporary romance more realism. The way the two adults worked out their needs and wants is a pleasure to see. This is what made the book so good for me. This contemporary romance is recommended to readers who enjoy suspense and heroine who can slay her own dragons.

When I got the email from Sherri asking if I wanted to read this I literally sat there staring for a while before I reminded myself I have to give an answer to be able to get the book. As much as sitting in the seat nodding my head made me feel good, Sherri wouldn't be able to see that and know I wanted it. Then when the book came through?? I danced a little because clearly, she meant to actually send little ole me a review request. It wasn't an accident. (Now that the dramatics are out of the way let's talk about the book).

Once I got the book I went right into it. It took me way too long to realize that the Paul mentioned in the book was actually Paul Daniels from the Daniel Brothers series and that's not Sherri's fault I just didn't connect it for whatever reason and when it finally did I laughed and loved this even more. Janey gets sent to a small town a few hours outside of her jurisdiction in hopes of finding out if the recently discovered body had anything to do with their most recent case. When she gets there her liaison is Kyle and my gawd is the man fine, he creates a buzz for her and she's hoping she's not giving it all away because she doesn't want to appear unprofessional. The second Kyle is introduced to the officer from Indy he's attracted but he's here to do a job and he's going to keep it together damn it.

This was a great blend of romance and romantic suspense. There are moments that the investigation isn't going anywhere while they wait on the results from others that the investigation kind of gets pushed to the back and the romance comes forward, but they keep moving each other forward. With the recent discovery of the bodies, and the lack of evidence they are working with very little in an attempt to discover who killed these men, who they were and why they had been dumped the way they were. It takes a while but Kyle and Janey hit it off and when she's in his small town Kyle makes his move and suddenly they are working on the chemistry between them. Once they realize they have nothing else to go on Janey heads home; not long after she's there another body is discovered in another town. Then a small clue gives them a chance to begin unraveling the mystery, meanwhile, the two cops have to figure out if they want more as well.

I loved Janey as she felt so real, being nervous and yet excited when she made the leap. Kyle was pretty good as well, being vulnerable and yet being the one to take the bulls by the horns when he needed to, he knew from the start Janey was going to be more and he wasn't afraid to pursue it. They had some serious chemistry and yet that didn't stop them from having serious conversations as well, they talked and that was awesome to see characters work at it and acknowledge the difficulties they might have to face if they pursued this, especially with one of them being gun shy.

The mystery of the dead bodies did take a bit to solve, but that time gave Janey and Kyle plenty of time to work together. When it all starts to unravel?? Well until the end I was like ok maybe ok nope didn't see that one coming, ohhhhh girl what??? How did y'all think that would work out?? Yes, I talk to my books while reading. It was a good ending, even if I thought the perpetrator clearly didn't think things all the way through. Those moments with Janey & Kyle facing them?? Yeah, I felt the adrenaline with Janey. Yikes.

I enjoyed myself and especially loved the relationship that Janey and Paul had, he was a great partner and because he was he treated her like family. Janey's life was full she had great friends, a job she loved and a place she totally enjoyed living in, so Kyle didn't rescue her, but he helped to give her life a little more. Kyle also had a pretty good network of friends and family, having moved back to his small hometown. I loved his relationship with his sister even if he's trying to be willfully blind. His relationship with his nephew is so sweet.

I'm looking forward to reading the other romances in this small town as it's shaping up to be awesome. We got glimpses of what I believe are at least two more?? Not sure we'll stalk Sherri's website and see over the next few weeks. I liked that it didn't all neatly wrap up, she left a few threads to be tugged into the other stories and gave us glimpses of some of the town as well. I'm looking forward to the journey back. I was in a bit of a slump before reading this and it helped to pull me out; now I'm addicted to reading all the romantic suspense on my shelves.

Detective Janey Davis loves living and working in Huntsville with her partner. When a body is found and they start to investigate, they realize that there has been another murder in Liberty, a small town 2 hours away.
Janey is sent down to work with Sheriff's Deputy Kyle Reed to see if there could be evidence that ties these murders together. Problem is that the heat between these two is off the charts!!!
It's not easy to keep yourself focused on a murder investigation when you're both more focused on each other!!!
This was a fascinating, suspenseful read that will send you in many different directions until the end.

This was an intense story and it kept me turning the pages. Janey and Kyle are thrown together trying to figure out who is behind a string of murders. She's used to the big city while Kyle is a deputy in a small town. I loved the emotions played out in the story and the slow burn of a building romance between the two characters. When things start to heat up and people are evading answering their questions, you know something is going to happen. At times, the storyline was a bit drawn out for me but that didn't stop me from staying up to see what was going to happen. The drama, the intrigue, the mystery was very well written and it keeps you engrossed in reading it. I also enjoyed the fact that while you know the main characters are sexually involved, it didn't get overly graphic in the details. Sometimes I like reading that. Can Kyle and Janey solve the murders and find out who is killing the victims before they become victims themselves. And what will happen to their relationship if they do solve the crimes? This was a story that I really loved. Sherri Hayes knows just how to keep her readers hooked and this was just another example of what a great author she is! Do yourself a favor and get the book when it comes out. Oh, one more thing.....Cindy intrigued me. I would love to see a story about her sometime in the future.

I liked this story and if you don’t like a lot of drama in your books I recommend this one, NO drama at all.
This was a steady story with a storyline that has a nice progression and some good love building. It was realistic and the characters was developed in to personalities I can relate to and find interesting.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and good dialogues.
There’s some intimate moments that’s tastefully described but had some intensity and was a little emotional.
It’s a story about a murder investigation but also a romance story, there’s some suspense but it’s a easy read.
There’s some secondary characters I would love to hear more about so that peeked my interest.

I give it 4 stars because it was good but I missed the more intense, emotional feeling I like in my books.

Goodbye Daniels Brothers, Hello Liberty Crossroads

Remember Detective Janey Davis from Crossing the Line, Paul Daniel's partner? Don't worry, you will get another chance to know her in Seducing Janey. This one is all Janey and Deputy Kyle Reed. Don't worry Paul, Megan and Chole make an appearance or two.

Like most of Sherr Hayes' stories, we have a strong female lead character who is a little hesitant to pull the trigger on life and love. Not to fear, we have an even stronger male character to lead her. Throw in a murder that needs to be solved since we know real life never gets in the way of matters of the heart. Don't worry there is not too much drama, just the right amount.

If you have read any of Sherri Hayes' books/series you know she lets you get to know the characters, relate to them and love them. She does not disappoint with this new story/series. In fact, there are a few minor characters that I would love to know more about.

Whose story is next in Liberty? I for one can not wait!

This is a well written book with strong , well developed characters and an intriguing story line. The author does a great job bringing enough drama and mystery and describing both her characters and scenes in detail. It's set in a small town with a small town sheriff and a city detective working together to solve the crime. The supporting characters help to bring the story around. It's a slow burn romance with an interesting story line. I loved and would recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book. Likable characters and an engaging story are combined to create a well crafted & entertaining read. Janey and Kyle had great chemistry and shared plenty of clever banter. I found this couple easy to root for and it was fun to watch their relationship evolve. The story line offers up lots of emotional turmoil. a touch of drama, mystery and some suspense. This is my volitional, forthright review.
