Jerry Cole is a gay author who lives in California & enjoys writing love stories. Jerry has been writing fiction since he was a child. As a young adult, he worked as a freelance writer in the evenings & on weekends. Jerry started writing gay romance stories several years ago, but initially just for his own entertainment & occasionally sharing stories with his friends. In the summer of 2015 he published his first gay romance short story on Amazon. Overwhelmed by the positive response he decided to quit his “day job” & took up writing gay romance full time. When he’s not writing steamy M/M romance he enjoys globetrotting, watching movies with family and friends, working out, & being dragged down the road by his two Great Danes.

California author Jerry Cole’s publications are now in the range of 90! And as Jerry’s repertoire grows his dramatic ability increases. Keeping in the queue of fine novels A CHRISTMAS PROMISE is another Cole winner!
For those who follow Jerry’s many books, his ability to paint a scene we wish to explore is expected. And in this new book he lives up to that expectation with a wintery car conversation between friends in the snows of Idaho - "A sensible person would not be driving through a snowstorm, Mark." Mark knew it was bad when the person he was talking to used his full name. He rolled his eyes. "A sensible person wouldn't be throwing an engagement party on Christmas Day, James. Especially not when his best friend lives on the other side of the country." James' laugh on the other end of the phone was loud and surprised, and Mark found himself grinning. It faded when a flurry of snow obscured his view of the road for a moment and he cursed, pulling over. "What?" "Kind of getting bad," Mark said. "I think I might have to find somewhere to stay for the night and drive the rest of the way tomorrow." There was an exasperated sigh. "You could have just caught a plane like—” "If you say sensible people," Mark warned. Trying to find a flight two days before Christmas that wasn't going to bankrupt him? That was a challenge….’
With that anxious note, this story begins, and is summarized well by the synopsis: ‘Mark Jackson has spent the last two years trying to get over his breakup. What a Christmas treat – or a fine read for the wintertime. Jerry Cole seemingly has endless stories to share. Recommended.
I enjoy Jerry Cole's writings and am looking forward to continued future reading but if story had been my first read by him, it might have been also my last. I was lost and confused for the majority of the story. I felt as though I was on the fringe of long-time friends who never quite shared all there was to know. I couldn't find another novel that had these characters which hopefully would have brought me a quicker understanding of their relationships. Even understanding Mark and Adam's past was too torturous.
A Christmas Promise is the story of Adam and Mark who become stranded at a bed and breakfast in Nowhere, Idaho for Christmas. The issue is that they have recently broken up with each other and don’t know how to approach each other or the subject. The entire time I read this book, Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” kept playing on repeat in my head. This is such a great story of lovers building up what they lost and changing for the better. It really brought me into the holiday spirit and made my heart flutter. We get to read the innermost thoughts of Adam and Mark and how they plan on making the best of their Christmas. Even though years have passed since their break up, the Christmas season and fate have other things planned for the two of them. I fell in love with both of them and kept calling them idiots for ignoring their feelings but I can also understand the caution that comes with trying again. This was a wonderful read. I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Being stuck in a small B&B thanks to a snowstorm. Mark is surprised by one of the guests being he ex-Adam. Mark and Adam just may get a special gift this year in the form of the owners Martha and Daniel. As Martha is Marks sounding board of help while Daniel is Adam's. When Tim another guest tries to move in on Adam's territory or watch him walk away forever again. can the hurt from each other in the past finally be put away. can they find the commutation to fix old hurts and work past to a future worth fighting for? Once the snow lets up reality is just a corner, will the happiness they find survive the real world interfering. Second chances it worth it sometimes. Welcome to the small town B&B of miraculously working just in time for Christmastime.
A second chance Christmas story that is full of angst as Mark and Adam make their way through a relationship that ended on angry words and Mark going off to Afghanistan for 3 years. Doesn't help that their two sets of friends jump in and cause even more anguish and hurt by their interfering ways. A snowstorm and a kindly couple who owns the B&B. that they both stop to shelter in. Can these two men get through the pain, hurt and anger that remains in their hearts or will the they find the love that awaits them if they just work at it hard enough? An excellent Christmas story. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
The story of Mark and Adam is quite involved. Not only did they break up some years ago, but also both of them seem to be still hung-up on each other and cannot forget what they had. As it happens, they both get stranded in Idaho in a B&B because of a snowstorm. Can they work their way through the hurt, anguish and blaming each other for the break-up? You will have to find out for yourself. This book was a pleasure to read and I recommend it strongly.

Jerry Cole never dissapoints his readers. Mark and Adam accidentally meet up in a b&b during a snow storm . A bad breakup should lead to a disastrous Christmas but thanks to the wonderful proprietors they mend fences and work on being together. The story shows how people meant yo be together can move apart and that you have to invest in a relationship for it to work. Read it and enjoy. Thanks JC
