In His Words is the transcribed diary of Joseph A. Tozier--teacher, scholar, and entrepreneur. It captures the political, social, and intellectual life of Brockport, NY from 1858 to 1864. After the opening of the Erie Canal, Brockport became a thriving agricultural and industrial community. Tozier's diary, and his scrapbooks of original materials, also authenticate his life's story during the Civil War period.
