Piper, a microbiology intern working under the world-renowned Dr. Landry, lives a peaceful life with her grandmother until the day the United Korean Empire launches a nuclear missile at the US, sparking a grand-scale nuclear conflict that leads to the contamination of the earth's atmosphere.
An eccentric billionaire steps in with a last-ditch effort to save humanity by sending a large group to colonize a planet within a nearby solar system in a Goldilocks Zone. Selected for the mission somewhat by chance, Piper accompanies Dr. Landry on this opportunity to escape Earth.
Following a four-year trip, the settlers arrive on their new home planet to find it is teeming with unexpected lifeforms and looming threats.
In a shocking twist, it is discovered that there are enemy combatants among them, and as the team prepares for the worst, a groundbreaking microbiological breakthrough is discovered - one that could save Earth.
I picked it up because of the glorious dinosaur on the cover but sadly I wasn't a fan with the audiobook. Even though I've could have finished it. A lot sooner I just wasn't intrigued picking it back up. Don't know of it was the audiobook itself or if I was in a mini slump as I've abandoned quite a few audiobooks recently that I had just a few hours left on. Wasn't feeling the story nor narrator of the audiobook

Thank you to @indieauthor_henryfisher for the audiobook in return for my honest review. . . My thoughts... I want to read more sci-fi and I’m happy to report this was a good one to get more into it. I like that the story got right down to business and was generally fast-paced. I had enough background to get my self situated and relate with the characters. This was also the first time I’ve listened to a full audiobook that is new to me (usually I listen to books I’m familiar with, read-along or switch between the audio and the actual book). The narrator was good and she kept me in the story. The one thing I wasn’t pleased with was the story didn’t really end. It felt almost abrupt. But, you’re forgiven Mr. Fisher, because I know it’s a set up for a sequel. 😁 Overall, I enjoyed the plot line and the whole idea of new world repopulation. I’m hooked and looking forward to the sequel.
I was given a free copy of this book from the author, Henry Fisher in exchange for an honest review.
A really interesting, scientific, novel! This new world explores the idea of what would happen if the extinction of dinosaurs never happened, (not a spoiler as there's a dinosaur on the front cover!) on another Earth-type planet in a different solar system. After 20 pages we are swept away from the Earth we know, and are plonked into this new world. I really enjoyed the day-to-day goings on in the camp, with the characters and just exploring the new inhabited with new life. There are some scenes involving actual microbiology, but I understand the author is actually employed in the biopharmaceutical industry, so it was great to get an insight into that!
Some dialogue is summed up in a sentence rather than actual dialogue, but this helps speed up the story and doesn't make the book too long, the downside being you don’t get as much character interaction as I would normally expect. A lot happens in the last 50 or so pages, which almost feels a tad rushed compared to the slower pace in the middle of the book. The ending left me with questions about what happened to certain characters, what would they do next, and what the future would look like for the new civilization in this new world? I definitely want to know what happens next!
Thank you Henry Fisher for sending me this book, I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to any future books you have coming out.
Thank you so much Henry Fisher for asking me to read this! I really liked how fast paced it was. The only thing that got me was the ending. I feel like I didn’t really get any closure which means there’s probably a sequel coming! I’m ok with that and I will definitely read it when it comes out!
I really enjoyed this book and found the storyline very easy to get into. The characters were easy to identify with and very believable. This was a great story and I highly recommend it.
Great read that was nicely paced. Read it together with my 9 year old daughter. She loved it. Ending sets things up nicely for a sequel. We’ll be waiting!
I gave three stars because of the ending. What happened? The story just stopped with no warning. It was just getting good. If there is another story I will read it and maybe increase the stars. Right now I am in shock. But kudos for no bad language. I just sent a book back because I couldn't get thru if for the cursing.
I feel like i wasted my money! The story line was great but the story was cut off halfway through..I spent extra for audible version and im asking for my money back!
