I got this book as a gift. My mom recently passed away, and the book is about grief and healing on so many levels. At first, it was a challenging read. First, it’s written in the present tense, which is my least favorite way to read a book. And second, I found it really hard to get into. It was almost as if there was too much explaining of unimportant things that didn't feel essential to the story. (MPO-this is the only reason I'm giving it a 4/5 stars. I think the book could have summarized the first few chapters into one.) Actually I looked back and it took me until chapter 5 to actually really get into the book. But man when I tell you by chapter 8 I was hooked! Y’all if any of you are like me and wanted to put it down in the beginning DON’T! It is truly a masterpiece Lauren Tisdale created beautiful characters who grieve, heal, love, and learn to take one step at a time and move forward. It helped me in my grieving process without me even realizing it until almost at the end of the book. What started out as a book I had to get through because it was a gift turned into a book I can’t stop talking about.

"The Hardest Goodbye led us both" ....The title of the book says it all. This book covers so much from so many different perspectives and ties everything up to "...to a new hello." This book isn't about anything supernatural, no vampires, no werewolves, no damsels in distress that need a handsome prince charming so come charging in on a steed to the rescue.

This book focuses on something that sometimes that not even dreams or love can save us from.... (I won't say as that will give away a whole lot of spoilers)

But Lauren writes with such details, highlighting so many real life issues that she approached delicately. The emotional detail, the characters that I developed a connection to immediately and were able to follow along with their story in each chapter.

This story takes you on not just one journey but three and you just have to be prepared that not all of them have a happy ending at first but Lauren does make it worth it in the end. So you will need tissues from the first chapter until the very end. A tear jerker until the very last word.

"The hardest goodbye led us both to a new hello."

This heartfelt book was such a rollercoaster of a read as it takes you through sadness, loss, heartbreak and finally happiness. The characters were realistic and believable. Leigha, Jackson, and Ellie went through and experienced things that readers could relate to in some shape or form as many of us have dealt with loss, depression, marriage failure, abuse, or miscarriage. The way that Tisdale was able to write something that anyone could empathize with is commendable. The situations that this book deals with really suck you in and keep you invested in the story to see how the characters deal with the cards that life dealt them. Very great read!

I edited this novel to the best of my amateur capabilities. The story is amazing, and the ending wasn't what I was expecting.
