Rate this book
Description from the This Reader follows the pattern of the Dunwoody Press Newspaper Reader Series. It provides practice in the style and vocabulary of journalistic Hindi. It is intended for the learner who has the basic reading competence usually obtained in a year of recognition of simple sentence structure and literacy in the Devanangari alphabet. Fifiy-one items have been included. All of these appeared in Hindustan (New Delhi edition) or Nav Bharat Times (Bombay edition.) The early selections are mostly front-page news reports, the later ones from the editorial page. For each, a list of new words is provided. A minimum of grammatical notes is added; references are to R.S. McGregor, Outline of Hindi Grammar with exercises.
