Forbidden Fairytales: The Complete Series

Rate this book

How to win a princess:

1. Bring her father unspeakable amounts of wealth to enter the royal pageant.

2. Defeat all other suitors in hand-to-hand combat with your honour intact (and balls - heirs needed).

3. Be revered by every citizen in the kingdom for being a 'hero' amongst men.

4. Wear the pretty princess on your arm while occupying her kingdom and claiming a right to the throne she isn't allowed to sit on alone.

Aladdin doesn't care about princesses, or much else for that matter.

The one thing he does care about? Treasure.

And when he crosses paths with a traitor of the kingdom, he has a chance to get his hands on more than he ever could have dreamed of.

There's only one rule: he can have everything in the hidden cave except a mysterious lamp.

But Aladdin doesn't do rules. Just like he doesn't do princesses. Although...he's starting to change his mind on the latter.

A Twisted Fairytale Retelling of Aladdin and Rapunzel. Fans of Marissa Meyer and Sarah J. Maas will fall for this heart-pounding YA fantasy romance!

“I never needed magic to get what I wanted most in this world. And sometimes, the best wishes, come true all on their own.”

Aladdin meets Rapunzel in this excellent fairytale rendition! This series was action packed and filled with all the goodness one can get in a classic fairytale. The three books were well written and they beautifully surrounded the original details of both Aladdin and Rapunzel’s tales. Aladdin has always been a favorite of mine and Peckham and Valenti did a marvelous job with his character and story. I loved every minute of his story and growth. The genie was my favorite and getting inside her head was fabulous! I loved Cassian and Rapunzel and their classic forbidden romance mixed with swordplay and sarcasm. This was a great story from start to finish! It felt a little too fast paced at times, and I would’ve loved a little more suspense with the romances, but everything honestly moved very well and I’m very happy with this forbidden fairytale.

Aladdin and his Genie

But not how you remember them. This Aladdin is a street thief, and his Genie is Kyra, a very confused lady Genie. (Rapunzel is thrown into the story as well).

I enjoyed this box set. It did have a few editing issues, but nothing too distracting. I did find myself rolling my eyes frequently, however. Mostly because Aladdin never seemed to realize until after the fact that he could have wished himself out of predicaments. (He had unlimited wishes...unlike the original fairy tale).

What I really enjoyed was the character development. All of the characters grew and matured as the story progressed. There was magic, an evil Demon, and lots of action. Best of all, there was a HEA.

A fresh twist on two magical fairytales!

A short and sweet review this time, as I’ve stayed up until 12am to finish this, and I have an early start and an extremely busy few days ahead so I’ll just say this: Cassian & Kyra absolutely made Aladdin & Rapunzel. MADE THEM. Thank you to the wonderful authors for another breathtaking, emotional, heartfelt, exciting read. I can’t wait for the next ones!

Interesting take on a timeless classic. I enjoyed the characters, Aladdin and the genie were so funny together! The villain was scary and a worthy opponent for them all. I love everything that these two ladies write, but out of everything to date, this series was probably my least favorite.

I so enjoyed this series!! At the risk of sounding repetitive, Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti are amazing!! I decided to read this while waiting for their next book to come out, Darkmore Penitentiary. And I was not disappointed. It was a joy to read as is everything by these two authors!!

Loved it

Such a great series. Loved this take on Aladdin and Rapunzel. It’s not every day that a YA novel holds my attention, but the writing is spectacular and I couldn’t but this book down.

Fairytales are always fun and entertaining. These 3 books did not disappoint. Lets you step out of reality and into the world of fantasy, which in 2020 is not a bad place to be.

DNFed at 9%. Was excited about another book by Caroline Peckham but it couldn’t grab my attention even though it had amazing reviews.

>Book Review – Forbidden Fairy Tales – The Complete Series
>I am an independent reviewer. This box set includes all 3 books in the Forbidden Fairy Tales series (Kingdom of Thieves, Kingdom of Wishes and Kingdom of Shadows) and ends in an HEA. This series retells the story of Aladdin and Rapunzel in a new and exciting way. Aladdin is an arrogant thief who enters a contest to marry the princess. He doesn’t love Princess Rapunzel, he just wants her riches. Rapunzel’s hair doesn’t come in to play until late in the series when it is enchanted by the genie, Kyra. The 4th member of this story is Captain Cassian. He is a member of the Royal Guard who accidentally broke the rule of looking upon the Princess. He was quickly sentenced to death by the evil queen/step mother, Gothel.
>This fairy tale retelling has a little bit of a lot of different fairy tales and is fun to read. There is a lot of humor in the story, as Kyra tends to talk to herself, Aladdin is off-the-charts arrogant and the banter between serious Cassian and Aladdin is really funny. I love how the story morphs into how familial love can be found anywhere.
>This story is appropriate for a young adult (16+) audience. The romance is G rated, but the violence is PG-13, at least. I am giving this book 4 stars. I think the books would have benefitted from moving out of YA and into New Adult with the romance leaving the G rating.
