Jurekt Becker was born 1937 in Lodz Poland and spent his youth in the ghetto of Lodz and Ravensbrück concentration camp where he was freed from the red army, so he learned to read at the age of eleven, 1948, he lived in Berlin, Oberlin college in Ohio and spent reading vacation in Scottsdale Arizona, later he resettled to Western Germany where he died in Schleswig-Holstein in 1997. The book contains his typewriter letters of the seventies and blue carbon copis he took from east to west, letter to Postzollamt Berlin for a ransacked copy of Günter Grass "Der Butt" as unbelievable censorship. Becker also wrote in the east and published in the west so the letter contain communication with his lector, she corrected typoscripts for print, then he had eastern lectors and editors and a western lector for Luchterhand Darmstadt and Suhrkamp Frankfurt.
