If I Were A Superhero is an adventurous collection of 16 short stories written and illustrated by refugee children, aged 6-13, who are served by the Refugee Education Center in Grand Rapids, MI. In the pages of this book, you will be introduced to each young author's superhero personas who use their superpowers to help people in need, address natural disasters like floods and famine, and bring joy to people around the world. Readers will travel with our superheroes to places like Rwanda, Nigeria, Kenya, Nepal and Michigan as they use their superpowers to make the world a better place. With each short story, readers will catch a glimpse of the creativity, kindness and hopes for a better future that each young author possesses. The young refugee authors draw upon their lives experiences in this brave way to address their fears and dreams. These short stories are not only fun to read but may be inspiring for other children to creatively address their own fears and dreams.
