*Fake News can be read as a stand-alone. Unlike the first two novellas in the series, this novella is not a romantic comedy and contains romantic suspense elements.*
USA Today Bestselling Author Sherelle Green crafts brutal worlds where lust and danger collide. Known for her addictive, high-stakes mafia romances, she’s built an entire dark empire through her books—a place where ruthless antiheroes and complex heroines navigate twisted loyalties, betrayal, and forbidden passion.
With a deep fascination for the darker corners of love, she dives into themes of power, lust, vulnerability, and redemption, blending suspense and sensuality to keep readers on the edge of their seats.
From intricate family sagas and compelling love affairs, to thought-provoking fiction and romantic crime thrillers, her novels touch on how experiences & environment impact the way her beautifully flawed and relatable protagonists view life and love.
What I thought this story was about was totally not it and that’s a great thing. This series has already been an unexpected pleasure but this book took it to another level. Destiny and Adrian’s journey is worth taking.
When I heard that “Fake News” was going to be a different type social experiment, I really didn’t know what to expect. So, like the others I set out to have a little fun. No surprise, Madam Social has fingers on every pulse/s, but I will caution you this is a different type of experience.
This Social Experience takes us on an undercover assignment at an underground fight ring; to find out if there is any illegal activity.
The investigative reporter in me says oh yeah there is some suspicious behavior going here. When everyone is wearing a mask, no real names being used, and secrecy is the air they breathe. Is there really any other conclusion?
Predator and DK instantly have chemistry so strong neither of them can ignore it and I loved getting to know them. You must stay focused because this is no easy walk in the park. With the twists and secrets uncovered, this one keeps you on the edge of seat.
The author did a great job of using this fictional body of work to address a very real issue we are faced with in todays world of media/social media. DK, Destiny and Cecilia enlightens us on how a creative journalist could spin a story…. know your subject matter…. stay informed….be careful in taking everything at face value.
Every character had a hand in making this a great story that can be enjoyed by a varied audience.
"No one ever says the fun is in expecting the expected. It's the unexpected moments that tend to cause us to see life through a different set of eyes."
Talk about an understatement! Fake News is book 3 in the Social Experiment series and it is a change of pace from the first two books. This book has more twists and turns than the first two books combined. Green cleverly crafted a tale of two characters whose lives are more interconnected than they could ever imagine.
Some secrets we say we are going to keep to ourselves but then someone comes along and we decide to become vulnerable. We take a chance, let down our guard and hope for the best. That to me is the main lesson from Fake News. The physical attraction between Destiny and Adrian is off the charts but the real beauty of their relationship is in how Green revealed their layers to each other. This book can be read in a short amount of time and will keep your attention until the very last word.
Oh, and if any of that doesn't convince folks to pick up Fake News then know there is a MAJOR reveal that readers of the first two books have been waiting on!
Honestly, it took me longer than normal to finish this book. It just wasn’t as entertaining as book one and two. DK and Predator aka Destiny and Adrian were cute and the immediate chemistry between them was a nice add to the story. However, personally I thought the story took too long to get off the ground. I also felt like their intimate scenes were lack luster compared to the heated chemistry between them. The ending was cute and I did like the tie in to Madam Social. This just wasn’t my favorite book by Ms. Greene. But her work is always well written and even though I didn’t connect to this story, I’m excited to read her next project.
This Author really captures your attention and holds it until the end! I really enjoyed reading this book! The characters Preditor and DK were so Hottt, it left me wanting more from them! Adrian and Destiny, I know who they were, I wished there was more about them! I loved how they clicked together! I would love to read more about them! There was so much that unfolded at the end that left me dumbfounded! I wasn't expecting that ending! I know everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! I definitely recommend this book!
I love the connection between the two. This story connected so many things. Although Des was an investigator, I believe Madame Social and Adrian were better investigators with more to lose than to gain. However, Madame Social planted a seed and was able to reap the harvest. I have read this series out of order but Madame Social is a beautiful character and I am glad we got a little bit of her story.
A wonderful story of doing what is right for the person you have fallen in love with. Destiny and Adrian will do what is needed to protect each other. Trusting someone with your secrets is a huge deal.
I didn’t see this coming! DK (Destiny) running around to get her story but falls in love with Adrian who has secrets of his own. However DK can’t say anything!
Enjoyed reading Destiny and Adrian 's journey. Secrets revealed that would impact their relationship. Can they learn to trust each other and let love conquer
Great job Ms. Green. I enjoyed reading this book. It was well written story and contained interesting family members. I love the intriguing Six degree of separation storyline.
Book 3 was cool but I don't understand why the author included it in this series. This would've been great as a standalone or as the beginning of a different series. Other than Madame Social showing up as a friend to Adrian's Mom, and as Destiny's boss, the Social Experiment Network wasn't a focal point. I guess one could argue that the story started off in that direction, but ventured off into a love story of sorts, pretty quickly.
All in all, it was okay. I give it 4 stars. 3.5 for the storyline itself, and a .5 star because I didn't have to read any of those ratchet rhymes in this story.
I liked it. Honestly, not as much as the first two books but this one was just okay. I liked how we got to kind of know a little more about Madame Social. Adrian and DK both had secrets but I'm glad that they both chose to love one another.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The story was an unexpected delight. The couple had me chomping at the bit for them to be together. The secrets added to the mystic. Maybe, we'll see them again.
Fake News is slightly different from the first two books in this series. It’s has a more serious tone and the main character is not involved in the social experiment that was started in book 1. It does however answer one of the burning questions that us fans have been asking since the first book. Who is Madame Social?
There were lots of surprises in this book, that had me saying WHAAAAA? several times. I actually re-read the book immediately after finishing it the first time just to see if I could pick up on some of the twists. But Ms. Green wrote the story and dialogue so well, I still was “shocked” when everything started to come out…lol.
This story also tackles the perception vs reality world of the news, and how what is presented shapes how we think and feel about certain issues. It’s an interesting conversation that we have been having in real life and to see it played out in a fictional story, enforces the need for everyone to really do their own research before forming an opinion and taking a stance on issues.
I’m hoping that the characters introduced here will have a spin off because I REALLY want to know more about Adrian’s siblings and how this family (Destiny included) will finish what was started here.
Now this story hit differently and developed in a way that makes you want to know more. I think the intriguing part came with How Ms. Pierce and Madame Social are connected.
Nothing in this world is by chance. Moreover most of us are connected by six degrees of separation. The story of Destiny and Adrian, was suave in a way that is digested like butter. You love to see characters be more than you suspect. And while I connected Adrian to Predator and to Ms. Pierce it was the Madame Social connection that left the biggest impression.
Because Sarah Smith mattered and her imprint on Destiny would result in something that would bare tremendous fruit.
Wow. Just wow! I had NO IDEA where this story was going when it started and boy, were there some twists and turns. There were so many "what the heck is going on?!" moments! But I LOVED it! This book was definitely different than the first two Social Experiment books, but is so wonderfully enticing, it could be read and enjoyed even if you've not read the previous books. Destiny and Adrian had off the charts, instant chemistry. I enjoyed all the secondary characters too. And those Steel-isms at the beginning of the chapters were great! This is just a wonderful series and Ms. Green outdid herself with this one! Brava!👏
Just when you think you've figured it all out Sherelle Green throws you a curve ball. Great story line. Intriguing characters whose layers are peeled back slowly. I personally loved it! It also provides a different perspective of fake news in the media and a reminder that's there's usually a little truth in a lie. I'd say it's definitely worth the read!
I was captivated right from the start with how Destiny got into reporting. My heart went out to Sarah Smith! I was skeptical of how DK and Predator would fare and curious as to what was the big deal about the fight club. Quickly I was ensnared in the grips of the blooming love between the two! In the end sorting out the fake news from the true news didn’t even matter!
Destiny and Adrian were an unexpected story. As with all theses “Social Experiments “ you never get what you expect and it makes for an excellent read to the end. Even when you think you have a handle on the story it goes left and I loved every minute of it! The sexiness and love pouring out of these characters was hot and made you want more. Predator aka Adrian definitely checking the box of book bae material.
Although the comedic element one is used to from the other #SocialExperiment books is missing, this is still a great read. The mysterious Madame Social made her appearance of course. I must say I enjoyed the suspense surrounding this story and if Ms. Green decides to write another romantic suspense starring none other than Steel himself know I’ll be first in line to get my hands on it.
I was so not ready for that! Wow! All the twists and secrets, with so many people being linked together. Whew! Just when I thought I figured it out, nope wrong again. Des and Adrian were off the charts hot! Instant chemistry upon laying eyes on each other. No spoilers, but this is a must read! So good! 👍👍👍
Great read, as always! This wasn’t a comedy like the other books in the series, but still had a Madame Social tie in. This story was darker and grittier but still quite enjoyable.
This story was full of surprises. There was intrigued, mystery romance and it held you captive. Immediate attraction is the best because it gives more time to watch the romance develop.. Enjoyed it.
