Anna Marcus is successful in the world of computers, but not as accomplished when it comes to lasting relationships. Which would be fine ... if she wasn't also completely and madly in love with the idea of being in love and being loved in return.
Anna's growing fear in life is that the love she imagines doesn't exist at all. That she is waiting for something that isn't even real.
When she meets Justin - smart and caring, with an unforgettable smile - he is a perfect candidate for her fairytale life. It makes Anna start to wonder if there is hope after all. But if Anna's trust in love isn't a big enough obstacle, Justin's girlfriend certainly is. That, and the fact that he lives in another state ... 500 miles from Anna's Melbourne life.
When disaster strikes Anna's family, she travels to Sydney to help. Lonely and bitter, she finds herself on love's doorstep, questioning everything she thought she understood about the heart, and what she really wants.
Anna is about to learn that not all journeys can be measured by distance. It's the bumps in the road which are the hardest to travel and overcoming them is the true journey.
Take a bow Deb, massive congratulations. This is the first book I have read cover to cover in a very long time. I was instantly hooked and did not want to put it down. I am actually in mourning now that I have finished. Thank you for sticking with it. The fact that I know you and can boast about you made it all the more exciting to read. I can’t wait to read the next one and the next one ... Please keep them coming 😘
I thoroughly enjoyed reading 500 Miles - the story of a very romantically inclined, Anna who, coincidentally, keeps bumping into the love of her life. I was at times laughing, frustrated and anxious to get these two together. Would they ever get together!! I loved Deborah's extensive dialogue and use of visual language, as well as the way the story and sub stories weaved together. I think it was this combination that made me not want to put the book down, spending a very late night finishing the book. Great read from a new author. Definitely recommend.
I loved reading this book Characters were great to get to know and follow Would definitely reccomend to others Most enjoyable and hope for more great reads jn the future Good luck
I’m floating around with a smile on my face and grieving not spending time with Anna today! Sadly 500 Miles just came to an end for me.
In this brilliant little gem, Deborah O Ferry takes you on a heartfelt journey with her descriptive narrative and her authentic and loveable characters. You can’t help but feel like your there, part of the gang just watching the story unfold.
A great feel good read from a brilliant new author. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
WOW WOW WOW. Debut book from Deborah O'Ferry promises a great new writer on the Aussie scene. 500 miles, the distance between here and there, Melbourne and Sydney, Justin and Anna. 500 miles is the distance to be travelled to go from where they are to where they are supposed to be. A wonderful story full of humour, drama, well meaning friends, families in turmoil and two flawed people who are just trying to work out their lives in the middle of a really traumatic year. A bumpy ride lies ahead and the words are worth every moment.
I could not put down this book! Deborah had me turning pages in to the wee hours of the night as I followed Anna on her journey; I didn't want the story to end! Deborah is a very gifted writer, her work is so beautifully descriptive that I felt like I was in the book myself and could very easily relate to the characters and their lives.
500 Miles is a great, easy to read book that is definitely very hard to put down. There was never a dull moment in the story and the characters are generally quite relatable and likeable. Deborah is a brilliant author and I can't wait to read more of her work!
I absolutely loved this book, was hooked early on and couldn’t put it down till the very end. Had to binge read the last quarter because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next! Brilliant read.
I loved this book so much, I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters, I shared their sorrows and their joys. This book made me remember why I fell in love with reading in the first place, and then it made me fall in love with reading all over again.
I’m not normally a fan of romantic books, but I couldn’t put this one down! (Literally). Loved the characters & was hanging on to see how it would turn out.
Surely not a debut novel?! Deborah delivers on everything we want from a good summer read - romance, plot twists, emotional suspense, a good dose of wit and an ending you don’t see coming. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
Once I started I couldn’t put it down. Its always a great book when I’m sad that I’ve come to the end. It left me wanting to read the authors next book!
I stumbled across this book at my local store and I am so glad I did. It's a really enjoyable, easy read. The story is interesting and the characters are captivating. I would love to see a part 2!
I couldn't put this book down, an easy read and totally loved it! The anticipation right until the end as to how the love story would unravel kept the pages turning, as well as sparking different emotions along the way.
