What is a Fish? is an information book all about fish. It goes through all of the facts about fish and all the different things that make them what they are. This is an excellent book for kids because of all of the things that help to make this book easier to read. There is a lot of bold lettering, bullet points, captions, photographs, and other elements that help to make this a good informational book for kids to read. There is also a word glossary in case kids don't know what certain words mean and an index in case they want to find out a specific topic they can just go straight to that page instead of having to search through the book for it. The photographs and illustrations really help bring this book to life and give kids the opportunity to see what the actual fish they are learning about look like. The illustrations also help to show kids what they wouldn't be able to see in a photograph, for example, where and what the intestines, backbones, heart, and spinal cord looks like in a fish. This book does a great job of splitting up the information so that the reader isn't bombarded with information and can easily understand all of the different parts that the book has to offer. I recommend this book to any child or student that wants to learn more actual facts about fish because it provides accurate insightful information that is easy to understand and fun to read about.
