Only Tithes Will Tell
Does tithing put a restraining order on trouble?
Facing eviction, unemployment and more past due notices than provision, Lennox O'Day doesn't think so. But it's hard to convince her husband, Zeke that prophecies won't pay the bills.
Brighton Finch is spiritually depleted, wields her bank account like a weapon and is ready to evict her baby from her belly. Instead of glorifying God, Bright uses her ten percent to put others to shame. Will a secret God only knows finally knock her off her entitlement?
Cassidy Moore can sing Heaven down, but can't summon a psalm to protect her anointing...or save her life. Will Cassidy find the strength to lift her voice - or will the next note she sings be her last?
Do first fruits supersede God's Commandments?

Only Tithes Will Tell took me through a journey because it made me stop and think about how I see the church myself. This book dealt with some real situations all the way down to preachers that we know are only in it for the money and aren’t the most morally upstanding folks they pretend to be. Does this book step on some toes? Yes! And, is it warranted and needed? Yes!
Each person reading this book will get something different out of it. That all depends on where you are spiritually and your own personal perception of the church and what it means to be a “good” Christian. One thing I think all who read this book will be able to agree on is that Johnson is a voice in the Christian fiction genre that we should all should get to know because she is at the beginning of what appears to be a very promising career!

The title caught my attention and the book held my interest. The real life situations and lessons mentioned will have you doing a self reflection. It will also have you side-eyeing some of the practices of the leadership.
The underlying message that stood out to me the most is humility. Don't turn your nose down to anyone, because it could very well be you tomorrow.

I loved it! A witty, sometimes heartbreaking and inspirational story with the church at the center. How well do we really know our leaders? What does it really mean to tithe or not? And how does that affect our blessings? So many thought-provoking questions to ponder. This was such a great read that I highly recommend.

A good quick read
This was a good, quick read that I enjoyed while on vacation. The difference between religion and spirituality is spelled out, brilliantly.

Excellent Read
All I can say is wow about this book, where it opened my eyes and made me think how God’s Word can be taken out of context and used to support a persons way of thinking when it comes to the church. A lot of people put more faith in man than they do God. When Pastors are fleecing the people and can not help others willingly they are only wolves in sheep’s clothing. This is the reason why people turn away from the church.
I love how the different characters are going through something that affects their belief in God and his Word. A daughter who’s father is a Pastor of a church but is physically abuses her. A couple who go to church but the wife is living a holier than though life and has secrets she doesn’t want anyone to know about. A young man who believes in a higher power but will not go to church but give to other’s that need help and not look for anything in return. Another couple who is struggling and the church they go to won’t help them because they are not tithers .
I don’t want to give any spoilers so you will have to read the book and perhaps this will help you see that God is there for you no matter what and go to a church that is teaching God’s Word and not preaching at you and fleecing the people.

This was a great, quick read with an assortment of characters who had to work through their own issues surrounding the theme of tithing and what it means to do so not just financially but also in giving of our time, talents and gifts. I think the author did a really great job in tackling this subject matter through the lives of these characters. Zeke and Lennox seem to have it the worst when the story begins, but in my opinion it's really Cassidy's story that I empathized with the most. Bishop angered me for reasons that had nothing to do with Church. An expression comes to mind when reading about him: "Everything God (like) ain't good and everything good ain't God. " I believe Bishop is a true reflection of this statement in this book. I liked JP's character too. He raises some valid points-as does Lennox- concerning the state of the Church and reasons that will drive folks away from it, until they have their own personal encounters with God. JP reminded me of "Nipsey tha Great (Ermias Asghedom)". His message in this book is seen through action and deed - and what better way to get your point across than that?

Disappointed the story ended, and not all were made whole. As a Dallas County resident, I know of the places (that are real) and the fictional locations. Curious is Zeke, and Dex are named in honor of the Dallas Cowboys. But nonetheless, this is a good novel. Characters has real-life issues. The “so-called” Church folks had the weakness that many in the church struggle with in our respective church. Zeke & JP we’re two favorite characters. Both were “ bad boys”, but young men with good sense of life. I hated the struggle of Zeke & Lennox. The struggle was very hard and I wasn’t concerned how much Lennox & JP could handle. I’m confused on Cassidy’s alleged murder. Cassidy suffered too much-she needs justice and hope reassured.
Bright was just messed up and in need of saving!!

I am not surprised in the fact that I really enjoyed this story. It's Christian Fiction, but they are real imperfect people that serve a perfect God and they do attempt to do right, although they make mistakes like the rest of us. I felt like I was looking at a big screen movie. Loved how the characters responded and interacted to each other, as well as the growth from some of the main characters. Great job and I can't wait to see what's in store next.

My 1st read by this author and I am hooked. I loved her characters and their interactions and daily live struggles. Things started out ruff for one couple and appeared very well for another couple. The love of God flowed in and out of the pages and I loved the ending. I do hope there is a sequel. I will be reading more of her work. Thank you Candice "Ordered Steps" Johnson. You have gained a new fan.

Wonderful
Once I started reading I couldn't put it down til I finished. I felt for Cassidy she was trying to be a good daughter. But she knew her father was wrong. I would have been out of there on my 18th birthday. Tithes isn't just money it could be anything you do for the glory of God. Ok loved this book and look forward to reading others by Candace.

On the fence
This was a difficult read for me because the book didn't seem to flow well. And the characters' names tripped me up also. The author addressed some interesting points but even then, there was too much redundancy. The book didn't appear finished, leaving some unresolved issues. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book, but the subject was interesting.

True story
Such a true story, some leaders take such advantage of lesser people, being so cruel and hiding behind the pulpit. I didn't see JP dieing though . I want to see where Cassidy goes with her life. I also know Bishop will get his just reward. Thank you for giving such a true look at some Christians that talk one way and live another.

Great Plot But Ending Was Rushed
Great Plot and I loved the message, but the ending was rushed and not as well developed as the first part of the book. For example what transpired between recovering from being shot and him becoming a minister. It felt like several chapters were missing. Candice is a good writer. I look forward to more books from her.

Awesome
I enjoyed the whole book.
It really told a great story how some churches and Leaders pick and choose who they will help in the church.
I recommend this book to new believers in christ and all church folk.
It is sad but true some people come to church to worship man and not God.

A good and quick read
It gave me insight into what I am dealing with myself. Answered some questions for me. I would recommend if you're looking for something quick, meaningful and on point to read. And with a whole lot of drama dripped in there as well.

Awesome!
This book touched on so many of my thoughts about church and tithing. It's good to see a writer put it into perspective and also make the book enjoyable. I will recommend this book to my daughter for her reading group.

Truly an Awesome Book
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I gave full five stars because the book deserved it. The characters seemed to come alive off the pages and it was like real life. I would advise that you keep an open mind as you delve deeper into the story.

Tithing Dilemma or Not?
This story brings out a lot of beliefs and questions that many people have about organized religion. You will experience many emotions. Great job, Candace, I definitely recommend this book. It entertains but also teaches.

I enjoyed reading “Only Tithes Will Tell” by Candice “Ordered Steps” Johnson. This was my first time reading a book by this author but will definitely not be my last. Her writing style is fluid, and there was never a dull moment. Loved the message which was delivered powerfully by great characters.

Good read. This book was able to allow people to see how church folk and Christians think. There is a difference between tithing and greed. People will use the Bible when it benefit them.

Only Tithes Will Tell was a very emotional book for me it also stepped on my toes once or twice. This book made me mad, sad, laugh I even cried a couple of times. It amazes me how people interpret the Bible to fit their needs and not the what it was written for, yes everything is not clear, cut and dry for us to understand and that is why we continue to read, study and seek guidance from our spiritual leaders. Even though this book is fictional I do believe there is people in the world that honestly feel the the same way some of these characters did. There were a lot of plot twists and unexpected things that made me tear up in sadness and happiness. This is a great read.
