The story of the Nutcracker (any version) makes no sense, and this version does that horrible thing many cheaply done kids books do where the author does some of the writing in verse, but not with any discernible meter, and most of it is in prose. Just irritating to read to a kid. No way to get any cadence going at all.

I bought this book for my nephew for Christmas. It's cute and perfect for little ones with shorter attention spans. Its bright illustrations are great for attracting little eyes.
