The Red Trilogy takes the Max Porter story to a new level with an engaging plot, well-developed characters, and unexpected twists. In Southern Bound, we are introduced to Max and his ability to see ghosts, and we are quickly drawn into his world of supernatural mysteries. The chemistry between Max and Drummond is a highlight of the book, and the audiobook version narrated by Stuart Jaffe really brings the characters to life.
In Southern Charm, we see the continued development of the relationships between Max, Drummond, and Sandra, as they work together to solve a new mystery. The characters are just as charming and relatable as before, and the mystery is equally compelling. Jaffe's narration once again adds a layer of depth and emotion to the story.
Finally, Southern Curses is an amazing conclusion to the Red Trilogy, with a twisty plot that keeps you guessing until the very end. While the absence of the Hull family is noticeable, the growth and development of the other characters more than make up for it. Jaffe's narration is once again exceptional, bringing the story to life in a way that makes it hard to stop listening. Overall, the Red Trilogy is a must-read for fans of supernatural mysteries and those looking for engaging characters and unexpected twists.

I discovered Stuart Jaffe's Paranormal-Mystery series just before book 6, Southern Curses was released. The main characters are husband and wife and a ghost detective who adds a Noir flavor to the stories. The characters may have some special abilities but Stuart does a great job of letting us experience their day to day lives and the interaction, frustrations and joys as they adventure thru the paranormal and reality. They are not "super heroes" and the story lines involve them solving the mysteries in "realistic" way, using their limited special abilities, their humanity, their teamwork and their brains.
I have been devouring this series, as fast as a book a day, when I am able to keep reading, and you will want to keep reading.

Southern Haunts - May 11 Referred to a possible haunting by a member of the Magi Max and Sandra need to unravel a century old puzzle. They are aided by Drummond, of course - and recruit a couple of homeless youngsters (known as PB and J... ) for additional help.
Southern Curses - May 13 The war between the Hull family and the Magi comes to a head - and Max is in the middle... Several unpleasant incidents give him some appreciation of Drummond's plight but eventually matters are sorted out with a modicum of success...
These are intriguing paranormal investigations - ghosts are real, witches are real and may be powerful - but the evenys are often rooted in normality.

I didn't have to recall all the incidences in Volume 1 to so enjoy Volume 2. This seems more exciting and a "page-turner" that is worth it. I look forward to reading Volume 3. It isn't like Harry Potter. Marshall Drummond is the only ghost Max can see but Sandra can see them all! I do like PB and J! You will learn who they are when you read this Volume!

I chose this rating because I found it an interesting read, the characters we're well thought out and added interest to the storyline. I recommend this to people who like a good ghost detective story.

Max makes me angry!
Max is a sexist jerk! I dislike max's attitude towards his partners. He needs to be more considerate to both the ghost and his wife!

Always an enjoyable read for paranormal mystery fans. The familial bonds are complicated and completely engrossing.
