A decent introduction for those new to basic sustainable business concepts and frameworks, but those with any CSR familiarity are unlikely to get much from it. I also think the book could have done with another developmental edit to make it more coherent and focused.

Richardson's book is an excellent choice for anyone looking for guidance on making sustainable choices. Even as an employee I found value in this book that I can bring to my home and my workplace. There's plenty of evidence throughout that being good for the planet leads to more money, so it helps to explain the value to my management.

The book is comprehensive and covers a wide variety of topics in a fair amount of depth - enough to give an unfamiliar reader something to work with moving forward. The resources and bibliography at the end of the book definitely give starting points for anyone willing to go deeper on specific points.

I found the stories relatable and the suggestions approachable - the author reassures readers that it isn't all-or-nothing and that you can take it one step at a time, making small improvements and getting more people on board to tackle larger projects down the line. The stories help to show how there can be a snowball effect too - the financial success that these companies experienced as a result of sustainable practices enabled them to see the value and more easily justify continuing down the path.

Samantha Richardson's book is practically encyclopedic in its thorough exploration of ways in which my business can be sustainable. While continually assuring that you don't have to do everything all at once, it does feel like a blueprint that can easily be followed. I was inspired by suggestions not just in the business setting, but also in my personal life, where I can implement new ideas right away.

The approach from an accounting/profitability perspective, while unnecessary given my own values, still set a reassuring tone that making strong sustainability choices leads to a strong, profitable business - and busts the many myths that might keep a business from taking action.

It took me some time to work my way through the book, as the content is dense with actionable material, but I'm very glad I read it.

A good place to start if you want to learn about making a sustainable business

I liked the focus on practical, approachable steps. It gives a great overview of the problem of unsustainablity on business. And it has a list of places to go to for further education.More than anything, I like how the author emphasized that this is a process, which means it takes time.
