Reading wasn't always Emilia's passion, but over the years she developed an irreplaceable love for books. She writes about large, protective alpha males and their strong, sexy female mates.
If you enjoy steamy shifters and fated mates, then you'll LOVE Emilia's books!

Alpha Wolves - Book 1 of the Alpha Wolf Protector Series by Emilia Hartley is a quick read that is not up to Hartley's usual standards. The protagonists are not secure; plot action has little reason, no back story; the ending left me scratching my head.
The protagonist wolf shifters, Cynthia and Alex, come off as whiners without showing much leadership potential. They appear as two horny disgruntled teenagers who think only of sex with each other. Cynthia is tired of living in a hovel with a demanding grandmother. Alex chafes under the expectations of his former pack leader and father Marcus, and the rule of his brother-in-law pack alpha Connor. A neighboring bear colony is warring heavily against Connor's pack for slim and hard-to-comprehend reasons.
Three-quarters into the plot, Alex begins to develop and shift as a primal wolf. Hartley offers some explanations of primals. However, as far as Alex is concerned, the accounts are a little thin. Alex and Cynthia fight their way through skirmishes against the bears that make little sense. What do the bears want from the wolves enough to fight battles?
Technically, the novel could have used a better editor. Words like piece instead of peace are left misspelled, and some paragraphs which are out of place.
I am sorry to rate this book with only two stars. I usually enjoy Ms. Hartley's stories.

I believe this is one of Emilia's early books and it shows. The plot seemed to take a backseat to hormones and the characters are not loveable or admirable. I listened to the audio version and the narrator is awful. She can't even correctly pronounce words. I have other books in the series so I am hoping for improvement in the plot and characters.
