International Banker, Beach Boy

Rate this book

A laid-back surfer and an overprivileged city boy make for some crazy chemistry in Byron Bay

Ollie Gilsworth is taking some much-needed time-off with friends, before taking the next step in his high-stress, high-reward career. Ambition hasn’t left much room for relationships, but when you are rich and hot enough to make men easy, who needs a relationship? That’s why he is the single guy on this couples’ holiday, and if he feels a little jealous at his friends’ close relationships, he is keeping that particular thought to himself.

Rhys Clark used to be on the surfing circuit, but the ties of home proved too strong. Unfortunately, for him, while there is a surplus of beautiful men in Byron Bay; gay, single and not ‘leaving next month’ is a little harder to locate. When he becomes Ollie’s surfing instructor, his better judgement tells him to stay away.

However, when did better judgement really overcome distractingly hot chemistry? What might be a holiday fling gets tangled in the very real feelings that these two men have for one another. As the time ticks down to Ollie’s plane ride home, they have to figure out if saying goodbye for good is something they really want to do.

Can hot sex and a deeply emotional connection make these two separate lives come together?

May contain traces of Byron Bay craziness and hot men swimming naked in pools. This is the final book in the City Country series but can certainly be read as a standalone.

Banker Ollie meets former professional surfer Rhys while holidaying with friends in Byron Bay.
Despite their mutual attraction, the men decide to agree to becoming friends only, not wanting to be hurt by a break up when Ollie heads home after his holiday.
The men bond over a shared traumatic experience.
Is what they have destined to just be a holiday fling?
Is what they are building strong enough to withstand the distance and tie apart real life demands?
Will Ollie take the promotion?
I enjoyed this story. It was great catching up with the other guys while watching Ollie and Rhys build something special.

International Banker is the third and final book in the City, Country serie by Mia Terry. This book is about Ollie, a friend of Kris (book 2) and Rhys, a surfer. When Ollie goes on a much needed break with friend to Byron Bay where Rhys becomes his surfing instructor.

I really liked Ollie and Rhys and their story.

🌊🌅Sunshine, a posh resort and a surf 🏄 instructor for Ollie's dream R&R😉

🌊This 🔥🔥steamy romance was okay but not my favorite Mia Terry novel.

I found most of this Australian MM romance a slow go, probably because this third in Mia Terry's City, Country series is less focused on a single couple. Investment banker/super wealthy dude Ollie and his Byron Bay surf instructor Rhys share a lot of the vacation and story with Luke, Jai, Kris and Billy, the main protagonists in the two earlier books. Apart from Ollie and Rhys' alonetime, which was filled with passionate clinches, the story was more geared toward continuing the earlier stories than moving Ollie's on at a good pace. The main conflict was not very convincing in light of Ollie's openness and ease with his sexual orientation and his social and financial advantages.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ollie and Rhys’s tale. It had everything one dreams about when one is staring out as swirls of snow.

Ollie was introduced in Kris’ book and he is just a dream. Rhys manages to get under his defenses and forces him to confront some truths. Because of that, Ollie is able to get beyond his privilege and find an equal partner.

I was thoroughly entertained by a clothing optional resort. The author gives enough details that you can imagine it.
Her writing is descriptive and dreamy.
The characters are funny and kind and sweet. (Though at times, a little too perfect in their cohesion)

I recommend this book to those who dream about beaches and surfs, farmers markets and complete opposites attracting.

I received an ARC for this honest review.

Good beach read

We met Ollie in the first books of the series and he is just as charming here, though perhaps just a tad hardheaded. He and Rhys stretch the concept of instalove to the breaking point. A holiday romance that becomes real very quickly but is believable to me given the circumstances and the fact that this is a fictional romance.
There are a few typos but I didn't find them so distracting that I didn't enjoy the story. If you are looking for a light read with likeable characters give this series a try!
Probably not best as a standalone, but it's not out of the question.

Really enjoyed, great series.

I looked this book as much as I liked the first two. So glad I picked up this series. I didn’t love Ollie quite as much as some of the other characters but I still very much enjoyed his story and the connection between him and Rhys. It helped too that our couples from the first two books were part of this as well as that was a nice bonus-I like when series are interconnected and favorite characters are still important and not left behind.

I don’t know if there will be any more in this series but I’ll be keeping an eye out in case!

Another really enjoyable addition to this series, and a well done conclusion to the series

I really enjoyed reading about Rhys and Ollie, I enjoyed reading about them as individuals and seeing the changes in them, and seeing their relationship begin and watching them overcome the challenges that got in their way

It was really nice to read a book set somewhere i recognize and can describe, and again to have people speak how i speak and use similar terms

I have to admit I was most worried about reading this one, but I’m not really sure why. I was glad to discover my worries were unfounded and actually this is my favourite of the series. Ollie and Rhys are perfect. Both and complex and interesting characters that I was immediately in love with. Paired with the beautiful Byron Bay setting it was a joy to read.⁣

A fab third book in this series, Ollie and Rhys are a great couple.

I really enjoyed the emotional element in this book, a holiday fling that ended up being so much more and the difficult choices Ollie faced about going back to his life in Sydney.

It was nice to get a glimpse of the other two couples from the series as well, they seem like a great bunch and have created an awesome family.

Great story

This was an amazing book.
It was funny, full of emotions and scorching hot.

I really liked both Ollie and Rhys and how the relationship that develops between seems so easy. It has its ups and downs but it helps them both discover things about themselves.

I loved seeing the other guys again as well, it made for fun and hot times.

Great book that I really recommend

I hope this will not be the last book in this series. I loved this book so much! Ollie and Rhys are so great together! A summer fling turned into so much more. I also enjoyed reading about Jai, Luke, Kris and Billy again. They all add to the story and are lovable characters. I was so glad that Ollie finally found his special person. Great Series and highly recommend!!

I have really enjoyed this series. This book focuses on Rhys and Ollie. It's sweet and hot and a little tear inducing. I really liked seeing how the couples from the first two books have progressed in their relationships and how the friendships between them all have developed. Definitely read this as part of the series!!

Needs proof reading.

Their are so many issues with the grammar, as this is a good story. The moan characters are a bit lacklustre and need improvement in their individual stories. There were also a few inconsistencies.

Definitely my favorite of the series. Not only do we get Rhys and Ollie's romance, but all of the guys from the previous books are included in this storyline. Very well written. I would definitely read this author again.
