Shanta Shelke never much talked or wrote about her personal life. She didn't marry in her lifetime. She was a teacher in a "not-so-famous" college in Mumbai. She lived a pretty secluded life. She wrote poems, articles, songs for many famous movies. She was an accomplished journalist in her youth, and an academician in her later life. The songs written by her will remain in the memories of Marathi people forever, for eg Mage ubha mangesh, Hi chal turuturu, Toch chandrama nabhaant, Reshamachya reghanni, etc. She was the President of 69th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, which was held in Alandi (1996). She received many awards in her career as a lyricist, poet and writer. But still, she didn't ever talk about her personal life much. She lived alone in a flat in Mumbai, and then shifted to Pune after retirement. This book is a collection of some rare articles, in which she surprisingly writes about her past, her childhood, youth and her life in Mumbai. She writes about the most special years of her life, when she worked with Mangeshkar siblings, and many others in the film industry. She shares her thoughts about why she writes? For whom she writes? She tries to re-explore her own self in these pieces. This is rare. Hence, very special.
