A bit over half of this volume is made up of short light-hearted chapters that you can finish in maybe 10 minutes. I had a lot of fun reading one or two of these when I had a few minutes to spare. Then we have the other half, which is a much more serious side story that I'm not sure how I feel about. It was certainly well written but it's not the type of content that attracted me to this series. Overall I get the feeling that the series is gradually becoming more serious, which I'm not really in favor of. The reason why I love these books so much is how light-hearted and fun they are and I don't want that to change.

Well wowee this volume has incredibly reached a racy development for the series, as Itsuki and Nayuta are now officially a couple, as it turns out to be a suggestive erotic read. However, the main feature of this volume focuses on Makina Kaizu, the veteran novelist introduced in vol. 5, and Ashley Ono’s, the tax accountant, character development and a certain relationship with a mutual friend they shared several years back.
Not gonna lie the series feels like it’s getting lewder and getting less involved with the little sister trope Itsuki’s obsessed with for his light novel writing, there always snippets though. However, it’s more becoming of a slice of life featuring friendship and love, with plenty of reading about the characters having a fun time with broad games, drinking out like normal and developing relationships, a heartwarming feeling about with the series, with more characters yet to be fully established in the coming volumes.

For a series that is so funny, I didn't expect it to hit me with feels like this volume did. Petty sure there were some onion cutting ninjas hanging around my place when I read this one...

This volume is incredible.
Not only does this volume feature the climax to the intense sexual tension between Itsuki and Nayuta. - which is just awesome, by the way - but the chapter about Kasuka does an incredible job of laying bare what exactly the meaning of this narrative is (as well as being a very emotionally impactful chapter).
The beauty of Kasuka's fictional novel being titled “Imouto Sae Ireba Ii”, just like the actual light novel’s title, is that this series was, from the very beginning, always about pursing passion. Kasuka had that unwavering passion; pushing through the hate and ridicule she received, all for the purpose of writing her novels. She kept pushing forward even in the face of death.
A little sister is all Itsuki needs to fuel his passion, his unwavering desire to write his novels. This passion is what leads him to form relationships, get together with Nayuta, and so one and so forth. This message ties a cohesive link between everything that's happened in the narrative thus far. And boy is it an emotional one.

Quite a nice read. Felt mostly laid back compared to the events of volume 6. Two sections of the story stood out to me (in a good way).

The first time a light novel made actual tears come out for me. Sekigahara’s death and Kaizu’s soliloquy really hit me for reasons I can’t explain.
