Threads of Fate ( Books 1 - 3) A Sword & Sorcery Box Set

Rate this book
A time for heroes as abominations stalk the land, an axeman's fury unleashed, and a feast for crows as an ancient kingdom totters on the edge.

1. Verge of DarknessCasca is no hero. He would rather run his tavern, while indulging in his pastime of poring over ancient manuscripts. But a dark shadow hovers over him, for his bloodline has been burdened with the task of protecting the world from the evil of soul eaters dismissed as nothing more than myth by many. Drunken tales told draw a shudder on cold nights. They were wrong. The soul eaters return after the barrier between worlds falls, leaving horrific death and desolation in their wake. Casca must now face up to responsibilities he is ill-equipped to bear, as the land teeters on the edge of a new age of darkness. But the threads of fate weave, drawing three mighty warriors into the maelstrom.Pagan, a wanderer seeking redemption for a gruesome act of vengeance committed in his youth, a one-eyed giant axeman from the frozen north, and an ice-cold swordswoman from the eastern continent. With their very souls at stake, and forced to face their deepest darkest fears, the four must battle to save the land from sliding into a new age of darkness.

2. The King's Banquet. A prequel novella telling the tale of the first struggle against the soul eaters a thousand years earlier.Belash never knew his father. Born to a scullery maid, shunned and feared in equal measures for his short, squat powerful  frame, he was likened to an ugly troll. Resigned to a life of misery and rejection, the fates granted him an unexpected boon of a wife and beautiful boy-child. He was content. But then, horror struck when he loses both to soul eating abominations plaguing the land. Desolate and bitter, his life spirals into drunkenness and wanton violence.

Seeking a measure of revenge, he takes up his father's old axe, Ausak Demon Bane and answers the king's call for warriors. The soul eaters are vanquished, Belash and his companions lauded as heroes and a banquet is held in their honour. Merriment and celebration hold  sway as the great hall of Crag Halbrosin echoes with Belash’s name. Belash the saviour, Belash the demon slayer, Belash the hero.

But the gratitude of kings and the high and mighty is a fickle thing, particularly with wine flowing in abundance and good sense abandoned. As the night draws to a close, will blood and death and the ring of clashing weapons hold sway as even kings learn Belash isn't a man to be trifled with, or will all depart to their beds flushed with wine and bellies pleasantly full?

3. Siege. Set approx. six years after Verge of Darkness.Aeneas bears the name of a hero from another world. Thrust into the dark intrigue of a land far from his while studying under the kingdom's foremost weapons master, he will need deep wells of courage and all his newly learned fighting skills to survive.

Two brothers determined to fulfil the destiny of their people, lead a vast army of blood-crazed tribesmen against the mightiest fortress of the age, while two heroes return from the dead to join a father's desperate quest to rescue his son from a land in turmoil. Before all's done, many thousands will die, carrion beasts will glut their fill, dark magics will be unleashed, and a young man will stare into the eyes of madness.

What readers are "Have thoroughly enjoyed all three books and would certainly read any more by this author. Nobody will equal Gemmell for me, but Ollie comes closer than any who have recently claimed the title.""Great descriptive writing...

About the author

Ollie Odebunmi

Growing up, Ollie Odebunmi developed a love for the works of fantasy authors such as Robert E Howard, Michael Moorcock and Edgar Rice Burroughs and in later years, Raymond E. Feist, Karl Edward Wagner and David Gemmell. His other interests were fitness and boxing and he went on to establish a gym business, before writing his first book, The Last Great Heavyweights - From Ali and Frazier to Lewis and Tyson. Satisfied he had the chops as a writer, he took the plunge into fiction, and naturally, it had to be epic/heroic fantasy. He published Verge of Darkness, the first book of the Threads of Fate series in 2017.
