What would your life look like if you were deeply confident of God's love for you? Do you believe God is love but don t really feel loved? When your weaknesses are all you can see, God invites you to dive in to His nature and discover His true heart toward you. With powerful stories from his own past and the Bible, author Daniel Hoogteijling uncovers the difference that discovering God's love for us personally makes in our daily experience of life as a Christian. A wrong picture of God keeps us from relationship and the joys of intimacy with Him. But when we understand what God is like and how He sees us, we find the freedom to grow in God while being loved by Him as we are. This honest, direct, and gracious invitation to trust God's love will shatter shame and revolutionize your Christian walk. Come find out that the One who knows you the best also loves you the most, and live in that confidence!
I bought this book because my son will be going to YWAM training under this author’s teaching. I recommend this book to anyone who struggles with remembering who they are as a child of God. It brings you back to intimate fellowship with the Father. It annihilates shame. Daniel shares many of his personal life experiences, quotes many biblical scholars and is scripturally-based. I highly recommend this book.
I remember I was impressed by the author when I heard him preach at the Soul Survivor conferences in the Netherlands many many years (in fact decades) ago. So when I found out about this book I bought it immediately. Since he has a SOSU, YWAM and IHOP background I was expecting a very charismatic book. The kind of book Bethel would publish. However this book surprised me a lot (in a positive way).
In this book Daniel explains that the Father loves us because He has send His son to save us. He does not only pardon us because Christ was punished instead of us. The Father is also the author of the Salvation plan. Therefore he loved us, we do not need to hide who we are. A simple, but at the same time very important message. Many Christians (of all denominations) love Christ but struggle with the Fatherhood of God the Father. If the wrath of God the Father would have had the final say He would NOT have send Christ but would have punished us instead. However the Father did send His Son to die for us, this is prove of His love for us.
Daniel is very honest about the struggles that he had while being a missionary. Its not the “God spoke to me that I would go to Africa and millions converted” story. Rather it speaks about what it's like to be a Christian on a day to day basis. Dealing with disappointment. How to be in love with God despite struggles. In fact that struggles can be the perfect soil to learn to trust God and grow in love for God because of them.
