Rate this book
He wants to clean up the town… they want to chase him out.

Sheriff Rowan Keller is the new sheriff of Blackgate.
There’s just one problem.
The old sheriff doesn’t want to leave.
He’s spent years taking bribes from criminals so they could pass through unscathed, and he’s not eager to give things up.

But Rowan’s about to put an end to all that.

Blackgate’s got a poker tournament coming up, and it’s drawing all the wrong kinds of people. But no one beats Wade Sharp. Evil, corrupt, and soulless, Wade has a gang of men who will kill anyone who gets in their way.

Even women and children.

When Rowan puts up a fight, Wade decides him and the entire town must pay.
Especially Tillie.
She’s pretty and kind, and Wade’s taking her with him when he leaves.

But if he thinks Rowan is just going to let her go, he’s mistaken.
Rowan’s ready to go into battle, even if he has to do it alone.
Can Rowan save Tillie and the entire town, or are they already good as dead?

Mr. Powell's outstanding western adventures never ceases to amaze me, and this series is definitely one of his most impressive to date. I am impressed with Rowan and his ability to handle any situation, regardless of how trying it may be. Enjoyed how aggressive he is, and his selection of posse riders definitely brings a compassionate camaraderie throughout the entire book!

Most certainly five stars worthy, as the outstanding descriptiveness of the storylines successfully portrays compassion and maintains any reader's undivided attention from beginning to end. Too, the author's character selections definitely adds a lot of outstanding entertaining revelations about how our old American West was finally tamed!
Definitely recommend this compassionate masterpiece of heartwarming western adventures to all readers, regardless of your reading genre. There are continuously descriptive gunfighting and plenty of suspenseful episodes throughout this compelling story of realistic western adventures. Too, there are moments of heartwarming experiences cover to cover. I was impressed with Rowan and Sebastian, as they finally brought justice to their beloved Blackgate! Read this exciting western masterpiece, as I assure you to be as overwhelmingly satisfied as I am!!!!😄

So full of action and excitement you can't put it down.

Rowan is a great law abiding man that was a deputy then was asked to come to Blackgate and be the new Sheriff. This town just fired their previous sheriff because he was being bribed to look the other way when criminals. The old sheriff ended up still being there not wanting to leave. Then Rowan met Tillie, unlike any saloon woman he ever met.
Tillie has a secret. She is tracking the criminal that stole from her father. She needs to get that money back. She has her siblings and dad depending on her. There is so many twists and turns. So much action in this story. You can't put it down. You demand justice as you read what these criminals put everyone they come across through. Love this author.

This is the story of Rowan & Tillie. Rowan becomes the Sheriff of Blackgate. Tillie works in the Saloon as a piano player and singer. The town becomes a bit of chaos getting ready for the 10 year celebration of the town. Their goals become one; to get the outlaw Wayne Shannon (alias Wade Sharp). Rowan, because Wayne was an outlaw, and Tillie, because he cheated at cards and stole money from her dad, which they needed to pay the bank money that was in errors for their house. This story is jammed packed with action. Joseph Powell is a well written author. You stay on edge until the end. I am looking for to the next book in The Texas Riders Series. If you're a Western fan, this series is for you.

Rowan becomes a town sheriff where the former corrupt sheriff refuses to leave and eventually joins an outlaw gang. The town is celebrating an anniversary and had planned a poker tournament and dance. A known criminal known to cheat at all card games comes to town and threatens Tillie a worked in the local saloon. Rowan and Tillie fall in love during times of great stress for the small town. The former sheriff and gang members attack the town and kill many local citizens. Rowans pursuit of the outlaw gang who have kidnapped Tillie. There is enough gun fighting to suit any western readers. The gang is eliminated but not before Tillie is wounded. Tillie recovers and the town heals enough for another anniversary without violence.
This was an action packed story by Joseph Powell. The characters are realistic and human in their search for a better life. I would recommend this book to any western reader who enjoys an action packed story.

TILLIE'S KIDNAPPING

Read Read this is fast moving no slow stepping here. Bad men using alias names, hiding their true outlooks. No perimeters very low consciousness regarding the value of life. No one escaped the guns of Wade Shannon's gang. These men were ruthless, no respect for any one including themselves.
You also are given a run down how women were thought of not good folks. In fact it was scary. Best downs, cutting off digits and mailing them to Sheriff Rowan, just a bunch of heartless men.
Everyone you will love this part of the wild bucking frontier and justice that is gained by the colt forty on their hips. Winchester rifles and a good horse.

The overall story is very good. This book starts out with a poker game where Tilie's s father has four queens and is beat by a royal flush. There are only four of any card in a deck and a queen is required to have a royal flush. Yet no one is upset about this in a poker tournament only when a card is seen in Wades sleeve is it noted he cheated.

Follow managed to get into bad trouble

Follow wanted to help her family. Unfortunately this involved the meanest man around. He killed anyone in his way. He got into a gambling tournament. He and his gang nearly destroyed the town. He took Tully hostage and nearly killed her. Rowan managed to rescue he and then track down the gang.

Excited about the next one

Mr. Powell writes a very interesting tale.
Although Tillie didn't make all the right choices, she did end up with the right man.
I was pleased that no loose ends were left. The children were cared for and loved.
