A brilliant and beautiful collection of short stories for adults. Jude Lennon has put together a real treat for those who like a quick pick me up book to read. My favourite was Civilised Outrage as that short story is set in Amsterdam by the Anne Frank museum. Amaterdam is one of my most favourite places I have visited.

I have read this pretty quick, while taking the advice from the book and reading while having a cuppa, well actually 3 or 4 at a time. Once I'd started reading this collection I wanted to carry on at every available moment. A collection of varying length short stories and all with an intriguing, (or so it seemed to me) back story. Several leave you thinking and wondering, well, what if? My favourite from the collection, 'The Rock Pool'.

A delicious collection of stories

This is my first taste of Jude Lennon's work, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Short stories are not my usual thing, but I'm glad I was tempted to read these. Each was well written and drew me in. They were evocative, tantalising, intriguing, inspiring. So much so, I wished several of them could continue, and be expanded to novel-length. Still, it's a great skill to leave your audience wanting more. I was excited to read in the final author 's note that a novel might be in the works. I for one will look forward to reading it.

This is a delightful collection of short stories that will whet your whistle for more from this author. Character voices are distinct and spot on, there are twists and turns and a wide range of writing styles that make it a delight to dip into. A lovely book, even the title and the cover make you want to grab it. Highly recommended and one that I like to leave about the house as one of those to just grab up when there is a spare moment.

Book 107 of my Goodreads Challenge 2019

A very eclectic mix of short stories that although each is unique it sits cosily with its neighbour. Some of the stories made me laugh and yet others found me with a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.

I loved Cut and Blow what a wonderful character Annabelle is compassionate and very caring.

The Nativity was a very short little story but still a little gem to treasure.

True Cost was about environmental issues and made me sit up and think about what we are doing to the world and nature. So sad.

My favourite has to be The Rock Pool such beautiful description the opening line hooked me in immediately.

The sea has always sung its own song just for me.

Beautiful collection. I hope there will be another one to follow. I'm looking forward to a top up, more ice and an extra slice for me please.

This is Jude's first book for adults and having read some of the children's books I thought I'd like to read this too. Short stories are hard to do. I often find that no sooner have you got into the story that it ends abruptly. Jude's stories don't do this at all. Even with a space of a few pages the stories feel complete. There is a mixture of stories, some are funny, some poignant but each have left a mark and given me something to think about.

Really enjoyed this collection of stories. Look forward to some more.
