Sunnyside Retired Witches Community #1-3

A Bottle Full of Djinn / Loony Town / Mummy Issues

Rate this book
Zoey Rivers has an unusual job. She's the Chief of Staff at a retirement home, which doesn't sound odd on its own, but when you consider it's a retirement home for witches and other paranormals, the strange factor ratchets up.

And, with a facility full of partly senile but still powerful witches, things go hilariously awry fast.

This e-book contains the first three books in the Sunnyside Retired Witches Community series.

Book 1: A Bottle Full of Djinn: Zoey Rivers has a pretty great job as Head of Staff at Sunnyside Retired Witches Community. She's good at handling the magical messes that are part and parcel of providing a home for elderly (and some slightly senile) witches.
But when the messes turn from slightly sloppy to hugely horrible, Zoey realizes there's more involved than just her residents.
If she doesn't figure out who's causing havoc at the Home, the place might not be standing for much longer.
If you love crime capers with magic, mayhem, and mystery, you'll adore Zoey Rivers and her comical crew of witch retirees.
Please note: This book is a crime caper, not a murder mystery.

Book 2: Loony Town: Caring for elderly witches at the retirement home in Sunnyside, California is a full-time job for Zoey Rivers. But when one of them is blitzing, causing magic to act even weirder than normal, things get…well, downright wacky.

And when a local insurance agent winds up dead, some of the people Zoey is responsible for become the prime suspects. As the zaniness of the magical blips continues and things get crazier and crazier, Zoey has to work fast and try to stay one step ahead to keep her charges out of jail, figure out who is causing the chaotic blitzing so she can fix it, and also figure out who the real killer is.

It’s a tough job, but she's determined to do it. The people who live at Sunnyside Retired Witches Community are counting on her. And she’s not about to let them down now.

Book 3: Mummy Issues: Sunnyside Retirement Witches Community gets its fair share of visitors. Some of them like the entertainment and others enjoy volunteering. But when one of the sight-seers ends up dead, Zoey Rivers has to figure out what happened.

The residents come up with a fantastic idea: Since the retirement complex seems to have more than its fair share of murders, they figure it might be a good idea to have a psychic on staff.

So, Zoey hires Iris. And all the information she pulls from the ghosts of the growing list of victims points to Zoey herself.

Except the clues aren't pointing to her. They're fingering someone she'd thought was long dead.Sunnyside Retirement Witches Community gets its fair share of visitors. Hilarious, laugh out loud, non-stop action!

I absolutely loved the shenanigans these nursing home witches get themselves into. I absolutely love the idea of a nursing home for witches. Why has no one else thought of this? The mysteries were full of twists and turns and some of the who did it's were hard to imagine. The imagination of what these residents get into is mind blowing! I haven't read anything so funny in a
long time. This is saying a lot before this book I wouldn't read a book with an animated cover on it. The blurb hooked me though. So thanks for that. Now I'm going to look for the rest in the series & maybe afterwards read some of her other series. I signed up for the newsletter too.

I only read Book 1: A Bottle Full of Djinn. I give it 3.5 Stars. The story was okay even if the troublemaker was obvious. However, the characters were under-developed. They were interchangeable and uninteresting. Then there were weird things like Zoey had been dating Doug for 6 months and didn't know what he did for a living. There were only 6 residents in the retirement home yet there were 6 full-time employees. Not very realistic. I have no desire to read the other 2 books in this box set.

Fun Read

I Love the witch retirement home setting. All the different personalities add interest to the story. The first book was silly and chaotic in the beginning, but then it settled into a nice cohesive storyline. I liked the next two books much better, as they each had a true murder mystery. Overall a good box set.

Every book

and every story improved upon the previous one. Clearly not a reality series, but i just kept smiling at the antics of the crew as their characters, discussions, and powers kept popping out. I'll keep going in this series, if only to see who joins this motley crew next

I’m a new reader of Paula Lester

As I retired occupational therapist who has worked in retirement homes, this brought back memories of the residents I worked with. Paula has created the endearing individual personalities that one grows to love. Adding paranormal stories the mix is wonderful!
I am looking forward to reading and listening to the series.

Great read

I really enjoyed this book of stories. Zoey is the head of a retirement home for witches and there is always something different going on! I'm so happy to have had the good fortune to read these stories and plan on reading more of this author.

These crazy witches re define friendships and family

Not everyone has the control over their powers they once had, and most have a much higher sense of adventure and why not

Mix in some folks who would rather ban the elderly all together if they could - some crazy and crazy fun adventures!

Fun entertainment

What happens to the elders in a World of magic? This series will take you on that journey. People will do out of this world actions, and you will fall in love with them. I want to retire there... Human or not.

This book is funny and closer than any ive read concerning life and powers of being magical. Im so sick of the darkness portrayed in most Wiccan related stories. This is totally believable. With no real exterly powers. Etc

Fun reading

If you were looking for a total distraction from the absolute mess our world is in this is a fun light easy read. Not quite the same old thing.

Amusing but disjointed

Plots seemed scattered and no true resolutions. Love life touched on occasionally but never really explained.

Quick read but not spell binding

Each book was better than the one before. The series has quite a bit of different storylines it can explore.

The stories are cute but the narration could be better. But I enjoy them and it was something a little different.
