Prophesy Hope!: An Advent Reflection on Hope, Peace, Love, and Freedom

Rate this book
Deep in the souls of black folk is a hope cruel surroundings cannot crush. In this season of Advent, in the midst of chaos and confusion, the reader is invited on a journey inside the black American tradition. This tradition offers a rich legacy of faith that—like the crucifixion itself—exists at the intersection of chaos and pain and love. America needs this tradition. Not because it feels good or sounds good, but because they are still here, and they refuse to be silenced.

In Prophesy Hope!: An Advent Reflection on Hope, Peace, Love, and Freedom, Dante Stewart leads readers on a 25-day journey through this tradition as they reflect deeply on God’s love and the meaning of Advent. These powerful devotionals invite us to see beyond despair into the hope of a new day. These caged birds are still singing; giving voice to love, peace, and freedom; and still prophesying hope.

Hope begins in chaos.

You must look within to see your own frailties but also your own possibilities.

Memory... is the unbreakable cord that binds the pains of the past to the problems of the present and the possibilities of the future.

Because they made it, we are here...we are the answers to our ancestors prayers God hears their cries. -Dante Stewart

These are just a few lines from Stewart's Advent devotional. It is a good resource as you make your way to Christmas day.

Very well written and researched. This devotional has been a blessing this advent season, and I'm sure it will continue to be.

This devotional is deeply reflective and a joyful journey during advent season. I have read portions in a recent sermon, in my small group, and have recommended it more than any recent read. Dante’s words bring us UP in hope and remind us from whence we have come!
