A novel from USA Today Bestselling author R. Cameron Cooke...Elijah Jones is a man with a past - a past he wants to leave behind him. Setting out across the vast wilderness of the Mogollon Rim in the Arizona Territory, he seeks to escape his past and settle down to a quieter, gentler life. But men who once made their living with the gun cannot simply walk away. In an untamed land teeming with Apaches and desperadoes, he finds himself unwittingly embroiled in a territorial war pitting him against new foes - and old ones. Through showdowns on dusty streets to savage gunfights in the wild, Jones is dogged by the demons of his past, and realizes he must face them if he ever hopes to leave the trail of the gunman far behind...
Another great adventurer of lives of people who helped settle the west. People who populated these parts brought with them many reasons why they all went west. This adventure will touch only a small percentage of reasons of setting in the Arizona area. GREED, GREED was this so called lawyer Martinique, who more or less owned the town. Everyone of importance such as the town's sheriff, judge, also he knew people in the Legislature who thought the same way he did, and besides as they ALWAYS say these people were bribed by Martinique for favors he needed in order to carry out his cheating, murders that were committed. You'll really enjoy this adventure and the outcome..
A Western of Old Spanish Gold Found in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
RCC has written of a westerner who was a gunfighter who stumbled upon the bodies of 6 priest on the Mongollon Rim between Flagstaff and the Mexican border. He becomes involved in a search for gold. A woman knows the location of the gold. The Calvary, Outlaws, Indians and the 3 who know where the gold is located. This is an excellent read for the genre.....ER
I had seen the ad or cover of this book in Amazon for quite some time, but always seemed to find one that suited my fancy more; some I never had the desire to even read over a small portion of. However, I finally could not find one I really thought I wanted to read so got this one. It was an excellent book and one I enjoyed immensely.
I enjoyed this story as it was educational and intriguing too. My mother was born in Magdalena, NM in 1904 and life was a lot different then and I am almost 80 it is hard to remember all the things she told me but she came to CA about 1920. We visited AZ & NM in the late 40's and later after I was married. So much historical facts to be learned.
The story of gunfighters, Indians, and downright evil men is intriguing and fast-paced. Even the protagonist has his greedy side and makes us look inward. Treatment of men of the cloth and the indigenous tribes of the desert show the dark side of man. A good read that makes one want more.
The book was written at a good pace. As a book prior to this one it was a repeat of an account to every person he met. Trail of the Gunman is good written that kept my interest
Good old wild west shoot’em up. Greed, guns, gunfights and fisticuffs, if you’re looking for that it’s here, great yarn well written and a simple plot all in all very good book. Huge fan of R Cameron Cook!
