Pressing Matters: 50 Years in Publishing

Rate this book
The book is a celebration of 50 years of achievement from Black Moss Press, but more than just being an anniversary book, my intent is to make this book into a focussed study of what a poetry press does for local and national culture. It examines the importance of having a press such as Black Moss, the simple faith in the power of words shown by the publisher, Marty Gervais, and how the dialogue between poet and publisher changes the way we look at the world, and the way we perceive ourselves in that world. The book is both a chronicle and an experiential guide that, I hope, will prompt others to start presses, and how Black Moss Press and Marty Gervais took a very simple concept —— the power of the written word —— and transformed that concept into an important and lasting cultural forum.
