I began reading this book because I wanted to learn about the Intertestamental Period. The historical sections at the beginning of the book were decently written, but their usefulness was significantly marred by the author's denial of the inerrancy of the Bible and his Higher Critical assumptions about the Bible's authorship and inspiration. I came to this book hoping to find solid Christian scholarship, but instead, it gave me 19th Century liberalism and "evolution of religion," so I did not bother finishing. My time is better spent elsewhere.
