I’ve always loved stories, the more fantastical, the better. I never realized that the life I was living wasn’t my own and that my story would rival some of my crazier reads.
It’s not enough that I’m stuck with my loveless egg donor and her jerk of a boyfriend, I can deal with that; it’s the mess I’m about to walk into that is going to either break me or prove my salvation.
Four handsome strangers at my school are about to turn my life upside down, whether I’m ready for it or not. I guess it’s time to buckle in and get ready for a crazy ride.
DNF couldn’t make it past 5% MC’s inner dialogue and “jokes” were annoying and immature. I’m sure the author thought she was being clever and witty but it just didn’t work. Writing style and voice needs more growth and development.

I liked the premise for this book. Aetlantis is is a continent that got lost through a rift between worlds and is now only accessible through a series of portals around the planet. Aetlantis is advanced scientifically and cloning is common, because there are fertility issues and low female birth rates. The chancellor had a daughter that he sent away to be hidden from his enemies, on Earth, but the guards placing her in safety were killed on the way back and no one knows where she’s gone.
17 years later Brigitte is a girl with an abusive mother who’s boyfriends get more dangerous with every year that passes. Luckily, though she lives in a poor part of town, she is exceptionally bright and has a scholarship to a private school on the opposite side of town. She has precisely one friend. Then one day four gorgeous new guys start at the school and start to take an interest in her.
The main problem I have with this book is the silly banter. I don’t mind banter, but not when it fills the whole book. It is also quite silly stuff and though the character is young, it struck me as ridiculously juvenile. Brigitte makes a big deal of saying that she creates the happy silliness to compensate for feeling depressed and angry, as a mechanism to try put her on an even keel, but it still just annoys me. It strikes me as trying too hard to create a “zany” character. Plus it’s not just her that takes part in the craziness, but also a couple of the guys, and they don’t seem to have any reasons to behave that way. This banter takes away from the characters and makes them only two dimensional. We never get to see any depth and the guys in particular are complete stereotypes. To cap it all off, not much progresses in this book. The plot could fit into about half the number of pages and the rest is made up of banter.
I think I’m a bit annoyed with this book because I had high hopes for it in the beginning, but the hopes were crushed the further I read. I really wanted to enjoy this book and it had some good things going for it. Though the banter was silly it was well written. The writing style was smooth and natural and if you enjoy the kind of “craziness” employed by Brigitte, then you’ll really enjoy this book, it just wasn’t for me.
17 year olds just aren't this dumb. The main character behaves more like a 13 or 14 year old. It seems like the author wants to portray her as innocent but the back story doesn't add up. She comes from a bad area her mother is negligent and yet she is meant to be completely naive. There is no real character building she has no backbone. This book is not for me.
The book started off okay, even with breaking the 4th wall and directly talking to the readers a few times, which is highly annoying. Back in the beginning the character personalities made sense, everything seemed pretty on par... then by about the middle everything went down hill fast. The FMC turned into someone bi-polar and constantly manic. The guys all started to blend into the same mindset. Not to mention the holes and issues with not understanding their world. If they are so smart, so technologically advanced, and the guys are military on a mission... why is EVERYTHING so juvenile? Who is the medic? Tactician? Sharpshooter? Any sort of position that screams military? Well, there is none. They act like they are clueless most of the time, they are not good security or protectors in the slightest... so by that rationale, their role in the story makes no sense whatsoever. Even their ages being staggered from 18-21 doesn't measure up to making sense because of how long they have been on this mission. Their homeworld is hardly ever mentioned or explained so their is very little world building on that front.
I don't like the FMC and I felt very little towards the guys. I did like how the FMC was not perfect, she wears glasses... but that was where it ended. I thought for sure that since that was different from the norm that it would at least be a good read... nope.
One of the biggest things that irritated me beyond the above mentioned is all the laughing and giggling. Felt like filler and it was always so juvenile and lacked wit or snark.
This is so juvenile that at points I felt secondhand embarrassment for the characters. The whole pizza dance was bad enough, but then there was the whole scene in the car, after Bridgette There’s more, of course, what with everyone doubling over in laughter every couple of lines. Try to picture people actually acting like this. It’s not charming, it is not endearing – it is wholly unnatural behavior, nothing organic about it. Light atmospheres can be expressed in so many ways, the constant re-use of this one was extra grating.
The whole book is a study of the most stereotypical Wattpad tropes in existence, starting with the classic scene of the heroine describing her looks from looking at her own reflection and putting her hair up in a messy bun. Bridgette constantly going ‘omg did I say that out loud’, the screeching BFF who seems to only communicate in innuendo – that and the boys’ attitudes all feel more fitting for a tween audience, which I doubt is the target the author aimed for.
Bridgette hasn’t had the easiest life, but has had some opportunities in that she was awarded a scholarship to a nice high school due. She is in her junior year and had really only got one friend. Enter 4 hot new guys - 3 of which don’t make the best first impressions. I liked banter between her and the guys, although at one point I did feel like a couple guys were borderline jerks due to some stuff she was going through. I also thought Bridgette was a little too trusting and naive considering her background. However, I liked her spirit, and the story has funny parts too, I was not expecting the twist at the end! I can’t wait to see what happens with Bridgette and her guys. This is a slow burn RH series and I can’t wait to see what happens on Bridgette’s journey!
This cracked me up so much! The female lead was extremely relatable in so many ways, by saying what she thought out loud without knowing it and by being a completely well thought out character, the males in this book are also along the lines of what an actual young twenties/ late teens male sounds like. With all the different personalities it blends into an amazing read that makes you want to keep going to see what will happen.

The five main characters were well developed. I liked the dynamic between all the males. It seemed the dynamic between the demale lead and her best friend was a little off.
The relastionship between the main female and male leads seem natural from the begining. I would have liked to see it develop more considering her living with them.
It ended in an intresting cliff hanger.

I thoroughly enjoyed this new series. The characters were well developed and I felt that I could relate quite well to the lead female character. This book had a dash of romance, mystery, suspense and was also well written. I’m looking forward to seeing further character growth and development in future books.
Good read, would have been great with more background on the guys and had they not been so stereotypical to other RH harems. Smart leader, silent and gruff giant with warm heart, comedian and sarcastic dude.
I'll read the next book because the premise is original but hope it has a little more depth.
I think this book has good bones but is definitely needing a rewrite. The MC comes across as bat shit crazy and not really in a good way the male characters are at least sane and protective although if I were part of this harem I would seriously drown the MC first chance I got
A few key things made for four stars. How do you forget your best friend so quickly? How did they go from being coworkers to "brothers"? Why dis on Galen as not the leader at the beginning yet for the most part he is? Overall, the story was good just fell through in some spots enough to interrupt the flow of the story.
PSA New series. This is a great start to anew series. I love that its a coming of age fantasy novel, it's definitely a throwback fantasy for me. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see what happens next.

Wow a really amazing book! I really love the characters! The storyline was awesome! It made me laugh with some of the stuff they say! Just a freaking awesome book! So excited for more! I recommend this book!
This book had me from the start until the end. Yes it had a cliffhanger ending, but with the preview of the next book gave me hope. I need the next book... So good!
