First of all, to me, Frederic II was a king who played flute with Emanuel Bach, very ignorant of me. It was the first time to know about this emperor who 200years before Renaissance, declared the need of separation of politics and religion. Shiono Nanami's book is always informative and entertaining. Her research on the history is thorough and although history books are boring, she turns them to exciting readings. And maybe this emperor was a looser in the history, she turned him into a great as a man, ( she recognized all his children from his lovers and took good care of them), as an Emperor, as a writer(he wrote a book on hawking). It was sad his kingdom, terrain and his ideal could not be carried out by his successors, but that is the history.
