Gloucestershire Churches

Rate this book
Gloucestershire churches are triumphs in stone and full of variety.
The Severn Valley is the cradle of English Perpendicular architecture. One good illustration is worth twenty pages of text.
So says Sir John Betjeman at the front of the book.

It covers early Christianity, Church of England, Roman Catholic and non-conformist churches, all in Gloucestershire with many photos of the best examples.

A wonderful book!
The short church histories are interesting, especially when they mention places near to me. Though dated, the photos are a good representation of the architecture. The list of churches will be really useful, as it details construction dates, let features, and remodelling information
