Maisie Swaps her Groom (The Mismatched Mail-Order Brides Book 5)
LIFE AND THE PEASHOOTERS HAVE CHANGED OUR PATH IN A HURRY

The story is the fifth in a new series and is a spin-off from the Grooms with Honor and Brides with Grit Series. When six of the elderly ladies, better known as the Peashooter Society, get together, it is to come up with a plan. Now it involves getting the six prospected new grooms to meet the six potential new brides. The story is about the match between Maisie Breener and Squires Miller.

Maisie Brenner had dreamed of marrying since she was a young girl, along with her two sisters, Maggie and Molly. Part of their dream included all three girls marrying on the same day. When circumstances became dire for five orphaned children, (in Maggie Shifts her Gent) it became a matter of a quick wedding on the train platform for Maggie and Peter along with Molly and Tobin to protect the children and adopt them.

Squires Miller was the one orphan who had an unhappy situation with his adopted parents. While trying to keep the three brothers, Barton, Gordon, and Squires together in the same town, allowed Barton and Gordon to be adopted by sibling brothers and Squires by a Miller cousin. The problem was, the cousin didn’t want to have children and treated Squires poorly.

The plot will have Maisie finding Squires asleep outside her landing when he finds himself without a place to live. She will invite him in, feed him dinner, and they discuss their situation and future. Can her dream of marrying the same day as her sisters still take place? Can they keep it a secret from the Peashooters? Is a secret marriage the answer?

“Maybe Maisie had the right idea to steer one’s life in a new direction. “We’re both going to think of things we want to do, and I’ll write them down. Are you game?” Maisie challenged him. “Would you consider a trial marriage to see if we’re compatible? Separate bedrooms until we decide if we want to make it real.”

The story includes Squires sharing the cruel treatment by the Millers that he lived with, the name-calling, the threats and bodily harm he endured. He shared the things he missed out on and what he wished he could have had. Even with Maisie being adopted, the life she lived was completely opposite to what Squires had—maybe Maisie can make a difference for him.

“He was married. He was equal to his brothers because he had a wife, a home, and a job now.”

“Was she falling in love with the man? Her feelings were sure pointing in that direction. I think we have a good start and we’ll build our marriage stronger over time. There will always be ups and downs in marriages, but that’s when we remember the wedding vows we pledged to each other. We need to have fun, enjoy life, and eat fruit every day.”

Sharing the news with Maisie’s sisters and their spouses and making plans for a surprise of their own for their family and the Peashooters has plenty of planning taking place in secret. A dinner will have the experience of many new family members with all the adopted children too. With the help of Ann, the six orphans will learn more about their past, and it comes with some bittersweet moments, heartaches, and tears.

“I think we can toast Kaitlyn Reagan for her hair-brained idea, and to a train robbery that set our destiny in motion.”

“Squires looked around the table filled with his brothers and friends. Squires might have had a rotten childhood, but his adult life was on the right track to happiness. A wife, home, job, and his first pet. And as much fruit as he wanted too.”

The story has a surprise orchestrated by the three Brenner sisters to help share their special day with the wonderful people who raised and loved them. It also helps each of the girls, Maggie, Molly, and Maisie have the special day they had always planned together.

“The three sisters hugged. They may have come to town to run a dress shop, but they found their desired jobs—and husbands—at the same time.”

Molly Switches her Man (The Mismatched Mail-Order Brides Book 6)
WILL THE KIDS’ CHAOS CAUSE THEM PROBLEMS?

The story is the sixth in a new series and is a spin-off from the Grooms with Honor and Brides with Grit Series. When six of the elderly ladies, better known as the Peashooter Society, get together, it is to come up with a plan. Now it involves getting the six prospected new grooms to meet the six potential new brides. The story is about the match between Molly Breener and Tobin Billings.

The beginning starts with the surprise wedding and reception for the town where the Brenner girls married suddenly and even adopted children. The story will mostly focus on the new Billings family and their adjustments. Married in haste, but will they find love in the end?

The plot will have Molly Breener will accept a hasty proposal of marriage from Tobin Billings at the train depot to be able to adopt twin red-head boys who can’t speak. While these two have slowly been becoming acquainted, the marriage is rushed for the sake of two boys who they are told are Tim and Tommy. Not only does Tobin want them, so does Molly.

The story is full of twists and turns as they, along with other family members try to help the twins acclimate to their new home which will include Lucas, the man who Tobin bought the livery and home and a hodgepodge of animals. With both Molly and Tobin being adopted themselves, they have a unique compassion for the boys and Molly will have some clues as to how to help everyone tell the twins apart. A trip to the barber to see Peter Gehring will come with some shocking surprises. Rather than things calming down, new questions arise.

There are secrets that Tobin has kept that cause a rift with Molly, but he will be granted forgiveness. Together, they make a new life for two boys and are willing to fight to keep them when trouble comes their way. Watching Tim and Tommy together, their closer interaction, and as new experiences develop how everyone handles it is enduring.

“You just have to expect it to take time to learn each other’s strengths, weaknesses, and quirks.”

There is one more story in this series, Nadine Trades her Partner. It will be about Nadine Paulson and Wesley Preston.

Nadine Trades her Partner (The Mismatched Mail-Order Brides Book 7)
GOOD—BAD—JOYFUL, AND SAD

The story is the seventh in this series and is a spin-off from the Grooms with Honor and Brides with Grit Series. When six of the elderly ladies, better known as the Peashooter Society, get together, it is to come up with a plan. Now it involves getting the six prospected new grooms to meet the six potential new brides. The story is about the match between the last couple, Nadine Paulson and Wesley Preston.

What an emotional tale that had me on a roller-coaster, crying, and even laughing and crying at the same time. The story is a journey and covers many truths about various couples, and what marriage entails—it isn’t always a bed of roses, it does have its thorns, but worth the effort. There will be a surprise event too.

Wesley and Nadine have skirted around each other, a bit unsure how the other one feels, and do they have a chance, a future together? There is a little issue with Wesley being named ‘assistant manager’ that has Nadine out of sorts, feeling she should have that position. Does Wesley have feelings for her—and how does she really feel about him? When her younger sisters get involved with a matchmaking effort, do Wesley and Nadine even have a chance?

“Oh, this was going to be interesting, trying to court Nadine with her sisters planning to help.”

“What do you want to happen between you and Wesley? You have to figure that out, Nadine. You’re an adult, and thinking about marriage is very, very serious because it will affect the rest of your life, and Wesley’s if you marry him.”

The story has a bit of a mystery, one that Wesley needs to solve, that of his baby sister, Lucy, that was adopted in Kansas City months after he was. Using the journal that Ann Beasley, the former agent who placed the children in homes, will be the only clue he has. Writing to other families of children adopted at the same time as Lucy is his only option. But what happens when he gets a return letter threatening him? Is this the end of the road?

Throw in a few people visiting and allowing jealousy to interfere will have these two ready to walk away—but is that what they really want? Will Nadine realize she needs to listen and stop imagining what isn’t there? Are they some things her married sisters share with her that will open her eyes to marriage and the future? Will her taking a chance to help Wesley solve his mystery? The story has so many real-life scenarios and choices and how people handle them. No, marriage isn’t always perfect, but love ties it all together.

“One thing I got out of last night’s conversation is that your spouse comes first. To love, to count on, to lean on when times get rough, not to run to someone else.”

“I want permanent with you. Will you marry me, Paulson sister number five?”

There will be one final book in this series, “The Christmas Plan.” Don’t miss the wedding of Nadine and Wesley—but be prepared because not everything goes as planned!

The Christmas Plan (The Mismatched Mail-Order Brides Book 8)
SECRET WEDDING PLANS

The story is the eighth in this series and is a spin-off from the Grooms with Honor and Brides with Grit Series. When six of the elderly ladies, better known as the Peashooter Society, get together, it is to come up with a plan. Now it involves getting the six prospected new grooms to meet the six potential new brides. The story is the last in the series and will be the surprise wedding of the last couple, Nadine Paulson and Wesley Preston.

The final story has Nadine and Wesley making plans for their wedding but wanted to keep the date a secret and to surprise the Peashooter Society. It also includes some memories of the other couples who have married during the year. They can still laugh at how the Peashooters mismatched them, but how they all made it work by switching to suitable partners. Not only were their marriages, but adoptions for several children. There will even be another budding romance.

“Another good day for us, former orphans.”

As with any plans, the unexpected has a way of happening, and this story is no exception. Planning for a Christmas wedding comes with one disaster or issue after another—between fabric issues to weather—life happens. But it is a great example of how this couple will handle their future and the challenges that life throws at them—and the other couples in this series. It was a great ending to a wonderful series.

“And to think this all happened because of a letter to the Kansas City Star newspaper and a train robbery.”
