Closer to a 3.5 but a solid tale. My first from Hogan, heard he was a dependable if very traditional writer and found that to be true here. The plot is 3 outlaws with a plan to work themselves from Montana to Mexico, robbing pre determined banks, gambling houses, mine offices, etc. Figuring on crossing the border into Mexico and living large on their robbings. However, not everything goes exactly smoothly and on top of that there is a determined deputy hanging on their tail waiting on a slip up.

Recommended, it's a very traditional western but has solid prose and is entertaining. Will read more from Hogan.

The Raptors is told almost exclusively from the perspective of the antagonists, which gives it a bit of an edge (i.e. separates it from the pack).
