He also wrote using the names "Alec Haig", "James Fraser" and "Alec Whitney". His novel The Long Day's Dying was made into a 1968 film directed by Peter Collinson. White wrote mysteries, as well as war and adventure novels.

I bought this book at a charity shop in England--it tells the story of a family in a small village at the time that the land was no longer held in common and the Industrial Revolution drew many from agricultural life into the cities. Well written, but a bit slow at times.
