This is a book on cognitive musicology focused on the mental processes of composers and musicians. The author conceptualizes these processes with the aid of Chomsky's writing on grammar and P. Schaeffer's "Objets Musicaux", as well as his experience as an algorithmic composer. As a whole, the book is referred to as Laske's Utrechter Schriften, Utrecht Writings (1970-1974) which are viewed as the foundation of Laske's cognitive musicology project.
