Halia is Cloudborn, of a race of beings who live in the sky, and she wants nothing but the best for her unborn child. But when Halia suffers a violent injury, she sinks through the clouds to a world she never knew existed, a world of stone and smoke and fire. She falls in with the Elamon, a clan of wary ground dwellers threatened by a rival tribe. Longing for home but unable to fly, Halia must win the Elamon’s hearts, stand with them against their enemies, adapt and survive, not just for her sake, but for the sake of her unborn.
Andrew Craven writes science fiction and fantasy. He received a BA in English from York College, located in York , Pennsylvania, where he was born and raised; he’ll probably die there too. He’s the author of five books: Moshiah, The Curse on Long Autumn Valley, Wintercity Crossing, Cloudbreak, and The Lucinda Simulation. When he’s not writing, he’s partying with his sons, Henry and Robbie, dabbling in heavy metal guitar, and reading whatever he can get his hands on. His beautiful wife, Carrie, wonders when she’ll be mentioned in this bio.
Andrew did it again. I have read all of his books and his latest book, Cloudbreak, did not disappoint. In fact it is his best work yet in my opinion. The story developed quickly and didn't stop there. I'm amazed with the amount of details he gave and how it kept my attention.
I very much enjoyed reading this book. The main character was very different from the norm for a fantasy book. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I will definitely be reading some more .
Andrew Craven is a master at creating detailed and fully immersive new worlds. I love his style and inventiveness. I definitely take notes when reading one of his novels. Can't wait for the next one!
