I received an ARC from Netgalley in return for this review.
I enjoyed this story - very different from so many of the usual Mills and Boon's books in that the story simply followed a growing, mutual attraction between Francisco and Krysta. There were few false obstacles towards true love and everything worked out rather well. However, the denouement happened far too fast and the book would have benefitted from an epilogue.
I enjoyed the adult, logical behaviour from both of them and was happy when they found their happy ever after. A few secondary characters appeared in the story making me think they would have their own books. I'd be keen to find out what happens next for them. I must say though that trailing an interesting story and abandoning it halfway through the book is really frustrating. (Amy and Roque, and Jake Porter and his nephew.)
My first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. 4 stars
A diverse location complex characters and well researched medical detail make this romance worth reading. The well-described setting and two easy to empathise main protagonists draw the reader into their story.
Krysta is a brilliant surgeon whose work is her life. Franciso is also a talented surgeon. His background looks and past attract more attention than his medical skills. Their attraction intensifies naturally in this gently paced romance. The cast of characters is believable and enhances the main romantic story.
The gentle romance overcomes the external and internal conflicts realistically to achieve the happy ever after the couple deserves.
I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon in return for an honest review.
The author has created interesting, complex characters thrown together for a temporary assignment that turns into much more. The heroine is a brilliant doctor, but naive in many ways, but blossoms with her interaction with Francisco. I loved the detailed medical terms and procedures interspersed throughout the book, making the reader feel like they are part of the medical team. Ms. McIntosh carries the reader on a vivid tour of Brazil, bringing the countryside to life.
