My favourite movies vary, Star Wars, LOTR, Pirate Movie, Amazing Mr Blunden, Phantom of the Opera, Memphis Belle., finally Olympus/London has Fallen. Music depends on my mood, country, pop, classical, even bagpipes!

DNF - I rarely DNF books, I usually start skimming if I'm not enjoying something, because I still have to find out what happens. But this lost my interest enough to get me to do a rare DNF. It's completely incoherent, throwing a million characters at us without developing them, often switching POV suddenly. By 30% in, it still wasn't clear who the hero was, and he was just getting introduced. There are pages and pages describing the heroine's charity and every detail of how it works. There's no plot to be found among the tedious descriptions and scenes of random people fawning over the heroine- since I DNF'd, I can only assume that the plot shows up past the 30% mark. The heroine's behavior doesn't make any sense to how real humans would behave, and the way other characters treat her also makes no sense - an entire MC of guys is completely devoted to her in a platonic way Just Because. When she gets thrown in jail wrongfully, the Vice President of the US shows up to get her out. It's over the top, and not in a fun way. It's insulting to us all that this is even the same genre as Fearless.

made my Head Spin

Not a fan, sorry. I thought with all the 5 star reviews, I had stumbled onto a new series. Frustrated trying to get through the over written descriptions of everything. The men were not my idea of a MC. And how many times do you have to say "Phoe is Hellfire"? Unbelievable storyline, just TOO much

Not worth the time

This has got to be the most disjointed and exhausting story ever. We have numerous pages about the detailed description of a charity. I mean how it works in great detail. The managers the directors what the the people they help, how they are assisted with housing. Then then we move to the description of her new floor by floor room by room. Please stop! I had stop and go back to read the book’s description to make sure that I had downloaded the right book.

Honestly I started skimming to try to get to a story. And the story was totally pointless.

Woah

DNF at 30%. I was really so confused the entire time. A lot of it didn't even make sense. Super fantastical followed by super meandering followed by more super fantastical 🙈.

Have to read! Contains spoilers.

To be honest I've created a GoodReads account just to comment on this. I usually use Goodreads without an account! I saw this advertised in a facebook group I'm in and went searching, I've had it a few days but not read it until today and I haven't been able to put it down. What a way to spend my day off.

Ms Harris hits the mark with the domestic violence. The scenes she was describing were a little too realistic. My sister was a victim and some of the scenes were a little too much like what my sister suffered. Praise for Ms Harris in being realistic with those. The flashback scene is horrible to read and I've witnessed that in real life. These panic attacks are no laughing matter and Ms Harris didn't make it one. She treated it with dignity and respect and managed to get the terror Phoenix felt across without making it false.

I found the charities fascinating. I find some books make a mention of something huge and then drift over it. I like the ins and outs of things. Ms Harris delivered enough detail I was more than satisfied. If something existed like them in real life the world would be a much better place.

The characters were thought out and well planned. Phoenix wobbled humanely and again memories were brought forth. Phoenix was stronger than I expected. Her need for redemption is something I've seen.

Drake was an idiot, strong one minute and a wombat the next. After Phoenix's flashback I really didn't like Drake and instead turned to Ace. Drake redeemed himself in the end but Ace was the real hero of the book.

I enjoyed Chance thumping him, and I could have seen Chance breaking from Rage MC. In fact I wanted Chance to thump Drake harder. The ex-husband being a stalker was believable and he was a nasty piece of work. Chance is a character I'd like to see develop.

There was some humour in it which was funny. The car dancing scene reminded me of my colleges a few years ago at work who were dancing in the car park. The little girl Eddie is funny and the tattoo scene had me in hysterics.

I loved this book, it put me through the wringer a bit, and I ran a gauntlet of emotions. I needed a stiff drink after. It is a rollercoaster as someone commented earlier. You get the highs with the lows.

If you like books well thought out and with detail this is the book for you. If you want trash, tons of sex, drugs and crude stuff, it isn't. You want women treated like dirt and still falling for the hero, this is not the book for you.

Ms Harris has several books due for release and I can't wait for the next one.

How do I rate my own book? Lol! A rather difficult thing to so I'm going to be loud and proud and give it five stars!

Hard to review my own book as well, so here's a little about what you can expect.

The Rage of the Phoenix is the first in a series about an MC and the women who cross their path. The women usually lead them on a merry dance before settling down, each women is independent and strong, although at first they may not know it. In a couple of cases the men don't exactly get the peaceful HEA they expect! Why have peace when you can have excitement?!

I got a little fed up with women being treated like dirt and then forgiving their alpha male. NO! So I decided with this series to turn it around and make them pay a little before they got forgiveness. In some cases the alpha's have to pay a high price! Jett certainly needs to learn to cool his heels!

I've tried to inject some humour in the books. But as I'm constantly reminded I've a rather whacked sense of humour, so I do hope that the readers understand it! Love should be funny and messy, it should be about loyalty and trust. It should be about forgiveness and moving on.

I've also covered real life issues in the books. Some of these issues we like to skirt around, they're untouchable for polite society. I don't like to cover things up, I think these issues should be addressed! My writing, hopefully tackles these issues with sensitivity!

As someone stated, the first part of the book could be called scene setting, the Trusts do pop up in other books, and other series' I plan to write. But like all characters in a series, Drake and Phoe's story doesn't end in one book, we see them grow through the series. They'll pop up every now and then!

Thanks Beth x

Okay- this was definitely different for me too!! Thank heavens for different takes on a genre I’ve been obsessed with and have read over 550 books in.

It may have been a little wordy... and I was totally down for Chance... like Micha, but in the end, I liked Phoe with Drake However, someone give me some more of Bear, and someone give me a book with Ace!!

My only down fall of the book is not seeing more time with the kids and some gloss over of things. We did get all 16 kid moments, but a lot of the time I feel like they were just to fill the story, but they didn’t have enough interaction for us to see. Not sure how to make that make sense. Especially the babies... they felt like plot/storyline fillers. Phoe was also out a lot more with work and the club then one would expect when she was all about her kids and family.

Anyway- enough of that!! The story was unique but some parts the same as other biker stories. However, I still found it to be enjoyable, refreshing, new and it sucked me in that I need to know more about all of Rage and Hellfire MCs!!

Not really sure what to make of this book. I love a heroine that has everyone's support but all these men falling all over themselves for one lady is really far fetched. Theres a lot to this story that is so far from reality its hars to enjoy it. This heroine annoyed me. For what ever reason she is always shouting, shes very childlike and just irritating for me. Would like to see more of chance tho.

When I started this book I was intrigued on how "Marie" was going to get involved with an MC. Her life was so opposite of what they had. She was a broken and beaten down woman that would do anything at all cost to keep her children safe. After her 2nd husband beat her near death, her son discovers that they have the winning lottery ticket. A ticket that will literally give them a new life. Now it's 4 years later and this is where the book totally lost me. Phoenix is beyond wealthy and has a run in with the Hellfire MC which lead me to believe that she was going to fall for Chance and yet he isn't her HEA. Although the whole entire MC pretty much are wrapped around her fingers. Which was going to be interesting depending on who her HEA is.
For me the next part of the book could have been totally obliterated and it would have helped it. All of the detail about her charities, who ran them, what they did, what they were for, and how she pretty much banked everyone who moved to be with the trust. Then when they had the cookout and she did a tour of her over the top home and she had to describe every room in the house. WHY?????
When it did finally get around to her meeting Drake and then their romance that was really good but so much unneeded words.

Yesh, I don’t read MC books to have entire chapters devoted to the very intricate trusts and charities managed and created by one woman. Please no. I read that stuff all the time in my actual job. I guess, maybe, if it mattered at all to the story to have that level of detail I could excuse it a bit….but it literally didn’t matter to the plot. Also, the plot got lost sometime around a three chapter long family BBQ where readers once again were treated to a chapter long exposition describing all of the heroine’s 20 bedroom mansion, 60 acres in grounds and amusements - not to mention her 16 kids. Then the hero and heroine haven’t even kissed, held hands, ANYTHING by 50%. I also cannot stand when every single human being that comes into contact with the heroine finds her amazing, perfect, full of love, bringing light to their lives…..blah blah blah. This was just bad, and if I had to read “Phoe is Hellfire” one more time I was going to scream. Epically disappointed.

Drake, Phoenix and Chance

No this isn’t a threesome, but it sort of is. Chance and Phoe (nickname) have a tight bond, whereas, there is a budding romantic bond between Drake and Phoe. This story contains lots of info on her business (while it sets the stage and would be nice in the real world…I kinda of got bored reading page after page of it). It interesting concept though. The fun part begins after that…lots of kids, happy family parties with kids, bikers and lots of fun. No off the wall skank parties. Lots of family, getting to know, setting up groundwork for the series, some serious ex drama. Domestic abuse issues could trigger some. HEA, no cheating, lots of brotherhood with a sister thrown in the mix. Recommend.

This was a very confusing book. The very beginning hooked me but then I immediately started skipping whole chapters! There was SOOOO much detail on the different charities and then her house/castle and then the new HQ and all of the employees. It all had nothing to do with the plot of the story. Then for her to be a “sister” to one MC and just beloved by all of them?!? I could go on and on about some of the over the top ridiculousness! I’m not sure where all the 5 star ratings came from. This was a hot mess!

Advance Reader Review.

My first impression of this book was pretty good. Usually you get a book that jumps straight into the meet and greet and lets get down to it.

The author took time laying out a background that was believable and well thought out. By laying out the background, I got the impression there was a lot more books to come from the author which is exciting.

I did buy into the characters. I could feel Phoe's pain and confusion and Drake's determination to get his woman. Chance was very clear in his need to protect Phoe and I wonder what lies behind that! Need more Chance!

Elizabeth wrote a good story and I love Drake. He's an idiot at times but a human one. He's hot headed, hot tempered and just HOT! Typical judgemental alpha male! Phoe handles him real well. Phoenix keeps battling even though she's dealing with some serious historical issues, which I imagine someone who has been abused would do.

There was some sharp humour written in some funny scenes and some great one liners.

If you're looking for a story about criminal biker gangs this is not it. This is a story of two MC's struggling for redemption and trying to keep themselves and their clubs clean. There are some scenes in which Rage MC and Drake do exactly what they want and to hell with the law.

Some people may find there was too much information written about the Trusts, on the other hand I think it was a part of the background setting. I think the Trusts will be featuring in other books and series. I've had a sneak peek at Book Two and Drake and Phoe's story continue in that alongside Ace and Artemis.

On the whole a good book, well thought out, some readers may find the background too much but I think it adds to the story. It's also going to add to future books judging by the sneak peak of Ace and Artemis. Its a readers discretion.

this has got to be one of the most ridiculous ott mc books I've ever read!

this is so beyond unrealistic and far fetched i can see why many dnf'd. its preposterous.

you really have to suspend disbelief reading this book. I'm meant to believe in 4 years she's achieved everything she has? the fortune of a billion, setting up and managing that many charities, people etc. she just knew how to do it. no experience, no education, she had her 1st baby at 16. yet suddenly she's a superwoman executive and has the business acumen of a 20 yr veteran. its ridiculous and beyond far fetched.

then theres the mcs- she just becomes the sister and they all love and adore her, adopt her etc etc - reach for the sick bucket

then theres her kids: not a nanny in sight but shes got all these kids, who looks after them? she's off at work, and other things who's taking care of the babies, yeah she has a creche at work, but when shes giving hellfire the tour of the mansion who is looking after the babies? it's like half the time the younger kids n babies are forgotten. they are literally babies you know how much one on one care they need

and dont get me on about how the bikers speak- its so cringe worthy, me biker, you bitch, me go eat, you sit, me like- neanderthal can't put a sentence together rubbish. even how the brothers speak to each other is like that. its terrible

I read this book to read the property of series book from this author. I won't bother.

this is biker fantasy on steroids.

its so far beyond fantasy n real life its like a teenage girl wrote it as her version of mills n boon + biker + billionaire oh n add in a couple of abuse scenes to make it authentic.

bs

utter rubbish.

why did i finish it when i usually dnf? I wanted to see how truly bad it was!

dreadful

Wow...

Holy crap that was an emotional book. I bawled my eyes out a few times. Loved the premise and wish the different Trusts were a real thing.

For those of you who are looking for a quick, raunchy, superficial & unemotional MC novel - look elsewhere. Also, don't judge. There was obviously a lot of research, thought and heart put into this book. Just because you don't like these kinds of books doesn't mean that you can try to knock it down. If you read the description and some reviews and hmm & ha around reading it because you don't like these kinds of novels then don't. It's as simple as that.

For those of you who have very sensitive triggers around abuse of any kind - I don't know if you should read it. There is a lot of descriptors in it & when I say this is an emotional book, I mean it. I struggled through various descriptions wanting to know everything and understand where the character's minds were at. I also felt that I had to read and feel these emotions as I know there are people living through this reality daily.

For those of you who do decide to read it, read it. Don't skim. This first book of the series has a lot of the backstory in it and by skimming you can miss the plot...

Loved it.

There was so much going on in this one and so many characters. If I had one complaint, it was the amount of characters, hard to keep them all straight, 2 MC's, a bushel of kids, the large work place, so many people, yet I'm not sure who I'd cut out as all are important.

You would think the work place could be cut down, but no. I loved the Trusts and wish something like this was real, would love to help out and even work there. I found myself cheering when the Trusts were at a weird one up manship in giving money at one point.

The kids broke my heart, from the start and they saw, to what they went through until they found Mama Phoenix. I love that these kids now have someone in their corner as their champion and that despite how many there are, there is so much love!

The MC's were interesting. A close tie between them, but a couple of times that tie was almost cut. I really loved how Phoenix met Chance and Hellfire and how they all welcomed her in and she them. It was interesting to see how Drake and Rage were pulled in and how much chaos was caused when Phoenix was attracted to Drake and he her.

It will be interesting to see where this series goes from here.

Rage of the Phoenix is my first read by Elizabeth N. Harris. I both loved and hated it. The story started out strong and heartbreaking with a domestic violence setting. Phoenix is able to escape her situation with her children, fleeing to America. She is unique, kind, caring and has an enormous heart. Her life takes shape, and she embraces it, giving back 100-fold to others.

Hellfire and Rage MCs have a lot of complex members. Phoenix knows Hellfire well. They love her and treat her as a sister. Things get a bit awkward when she meets Rage. They are close to Hellfire but can't understand what Phoenix means to them.

Overall, I enjoyed Rage of the Phoenix. There are a few things that were a little confusing. Lots of character introduction, lots of long explanations of charities. At times it felt like a "wish list" of sorts. Phoenix has 5 biological children and 11 adopted. Their introductions were very long as well along with the details of her charities. It is necessary to read through all of the "groundwork." On the upside, some of the antics from the kids were funny.

There are 27 books in the series. I will give The Hunters Rage a try next and see how it goes!

I got to read this book as an advance reader.

The book gives you a feel good feeling that I enjoyed. While the Trusts seem a little far fetched, I can't see anyone in todays society setting up a thing like that, I found the premise thought out and in truth, admirable.

I found myself buying into the characters and wanting to know more, more, more! Elizabeth must have had rather a difficult time of it, being English and yet basing Rage MC in America. The book is well written and enjoyable.

Loved Eddie! Can't wait for more Eddie! Funniest scene's was the paintballing and Eddie coaxing Drake to show his tattoo's and selling out Phoenix. Drake's final sentence in the book was pretty funny too. Can't wait for more Rage. Hurry up and get writing Elizabeth!

The plot was good and touched upon subjects some writers avoid. Elizabeth's handling of domestic violence and the rebuild after it was thoughtful. Not every victim wants to remain a victim.

Am waiting impatiently for the second book which will be Ace's story!

Wow this is a fantastic book from start to finish, and what a storyline this book had. The characters were fabulous and definitely made the book more entertaining and I also found myself laughing in parts of it. This book really sucks me in from the beginning. This is the first book I've read by Elizabeth Harris and wow was this an amazing book. It certainly blew my mind from the very beginning and I loved every bit of it.

great series

Ok so I just read this I have read them all but for some reason never finished this one I loved it great story action feelings BUT SPOILERS

How can phoenix love and need drake so much but the second she shattered she climbs on chances lap even leaves drakes for his? I get they are all close I do but to have a relationship where are the boundaries it’s pretty much saying hey I love you we can be a family I’m your wife but all these men come before you EVEN CHANCE would ruin a life time with his cousin over pho and drakes 1st real issue? I do love this series but doubt if drake relied on another women for emotional support more then his women it would be wrong and consider unfaithful let a women sit on his lap lay down and cuddle? Come on really???? I feel these books hold a lot double standards I see it it others also I know for a fact I don’t sit on anyone I consider my brothers lap or lay down and snuggle ? Weird dude

Decent

This is my first time reading anything by this author. I would have given this book 5 stars, but it was too much. However, I get the details of the back story how it all comes together, I shouldn't have to skip pages or chapters because that was all the chapter consist of was details and not the story, that was way too much. I would have liked more stories about the H and h and told in dual POV. Another thing that bothered me was the lack of respect the h had for the H. I mean, I get the history, but come on. I know it's a book and not real life, but it should read more realistic. There is no way a man will stand by and let his girl be in another man lap regardless of the relationship. Needless to say, besides those small irritants, it was a decent read. I will move on to the next book. Hopefully, it will be better.

Good, but winded

I thought this was good and I'm going to read the next in the series. However, it was really winded in several spots, and a little too *perfect* with how she survives and thrives and makes all her dreams come true. I believe that can be done, and I was glad to see it done. I was glad to see it these ideals written because they are worthy causes, but they should have shared more of her struggles getting her business going and less of something else maybe. I don't know, maybe I'm just a cynic.

Overall, I enjoyed it very much. I loved the characters and look forward to more of their stories. So hopefully the next one will be a little less *overwritten??*,,, Not sure.....

Family, trust, loyalty and MC in one

I have read all 17 books and now come back to the first to leave a review on the series. The first book is a good read and sets up the series. Each can be read independently but I would suggest you read in order as there is a storyline that runs throughout the whole series and you want to follow it. There are some stand out characters that just make me laugh, for me they are Artemis, Calli - miss Detla Force-and not forgetting Eddie (my fav). I have loved reading these, the are well written, easy to read, you really understand the characters and great a great insight into family, loyalty, love and shared life. Definately worth reading I am now starting on the Washington series.

I rarely leave actual reviews on books, they have to be extremely good or very very bad for me to leave anything other than a rating.
It took me two tries to get through this book. First off, how are we pronouncing the name Phoe? Is it supposed to be like “fee” or “foe” or something else??
The way the characters talk drove me crazy and is the reason I DNF’d the first read.
The chapters on the trusts became overkill after a while.
There were things that were so outrageous that they weren’t even comical. (Vice president anyone?)
Also we get it, she is hellfire!
I don’t think I’ll be reading anything else from this author!

This isn't my type of book but I was asked to read it as an advanced reader.

I was surprised when I found I enjoyed the book. I usually find MC books crude, rude and crass and trash. This one was crude and rude in places but there was a story behind it that made the difference.

There is bad language in this and violence. I didn't like reading about it but it was well written. I did get caught up in the characters lives and want to read the next book in the series which I understand comes out soon.

Really good Book

Rage of the Phoenix was a great book...I loved Phoenix and Drake together and loved all the kids. The details about the charities, or Trusts, were interesting, and like the author says, it would be a marvelous idea. There was some violence in this book, especially at the very beginning, so please be aware of that. Although this story is about Rage MC, this book seems more of something else...sure it is about 2 CMs coming together, it's a love story, it is a suspense and it is about an unconventional family and the woman that brings them together. I recommend this book for someone who enjoys a good book...

Amazing

OMG I loved this book! I’ve been stuck in a rut for ages and saw this book and thought I’d give it a go. Sooo glad I did. The story was so well written the characters were amazing and the plot was great. There was fun times and sexy times too. Drake has become my number mc president, his brooding character but gentle heart just made me fall in love with him. Phoenix what a woman I want to grow up and be here one day (although I’m older lol) if you like Mc books this is a must read. X

Engrossing novel

and it took me a little time to get into this author’s style.
It was refreshing to have all unnecessary ‘fluff’ out of the narrative (for example minute descriptions of all possible movements involved in putting a cup onto a surface) and concentrate on the underlying back history and resultant effects.
Descriptions of individuals were released slowly, these great characters, living within this tightly woven and fast moving storyline, certainly kept me reading well into the night.
Highly recommended.
