My Screws Are Loose: A Story of Triumph Over Tragedy

My Screws Are Loose A story of Triumph Over Tragedy is a unique autobiography. It is based on a true story that is published for the first time. It includes photographs of her personal journey as she fought a rigorous and lengthy health battle as she struggled with a chronic illness. The author had the cooperation of her family, doctors, and some close friends for this project. This story depicts a young girl who suffered a cheerleading injury at the age of sixteen and she persisted on with a cheerleading and dance career. She worked for Walt Disney World in entertainment as a character, and had a lengthy education career. Behind Nichole Thomas’ elegant smile, she hid many tears of pain and discomfort due to Scoliosis. She is one who went through the depths of despair where recovery seemed impossible, yet she courageously fought to rise out of the storm. It tells a story of her heartbreaking silence and how she found herself through adversity and a strong faith. She is a Scoliosis survivor and wants to inspire people fighting health conditions from all walks of life.

I am completely in awe right now.

Last year, I had the pleasure to work with Nichole as flight crew on a trip to Fargo. While I caught glimpses of her story, I didn’t get a chance to know her more deeply until a few weeks ago when fate had us again working together!

When she told me she’d written a book detailing her health troubles, I promised to read it ASAP. After finishing this book, my respect for Nichole has gone through the roof. While I already knew her to be a woman of strength and sound character, reading this detailed account of her story has left me, once again, in awe.

Nichole has much more to write, and I know she will. I could not be more honored to watch her follow her dreams despite all odds and to remain kind despite it all. And to think that we are both from Memphis—but didn’t meet until a work trip in Chicago! As she wrote herself, “He always knows whom to place in our paths at the exact moments when we need them.” 🥹💜

An amazing story of adversity, and the pain and struggles that go with a chronic illness. I appreciate the transparency and rawness of Nicole’s writing-no sugar coating. She tells it how it is. The emotions, the pain, the losses. Thank you, Niki, for writing this book. I will keep it close in the midst of my journey with chronic illness and will turn to it to find strength.

This book is so good. It's an easy 5★ book for me. My Screws Are Loose tells the story about a woman’s journey from tragedy, to perseverance, to setback, to a will to overcome and ultimately to finding her peace in the midst of her struggles. There are parts of this story that are difficult to read, but I found that I couldn’t put it down once I got started. Her story is so relatable and her storytelling puts you in the room and along for the ride. You can’t help but root for her in this story.
