In the magical land of Ooh La La, where all you have to do is wish for something and it appears, a young boy is unhappy and wishes he could visit Earth - maybe there he will find happiness. However, when given only 3 days, he quickly learns that he needs money on Earth - forbidden to use his powers he finds a job, day 1 washing dishes, day 2 as a messenger boy. But on the 3rd day he discovers a beautiful garden and learns the beauty and happiness of working with your hand to create something beautiful and lasting.
I loved the message in The Magic of Ooh La La - that it isn't about what you have, happiness comes when you lose yourself in what you are doing and create something everyone can enjoy. Xiaoxian Don's illustrations are great - old fashioned and sweet. A terrific story about appreciating the value of hard work.
