Perfectly autistic is an easy to read and well written beginners guide to autism. The writing style is engaging and the structure of the book well thought out. Starting with an overview the book moves on to how you might discuss a diagnosis with your child, family and friends, and then delves further into: special interests, triggers, behaviours and emotional connection and self-confidence. I found the chapters on helping advocate needs and the emotional connection sections the most helpful. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would like an overview of autism and where to start.
Good read that has given me some further understanding of autism and the various comorbid conditions which may occur, a different perspective through the eyes of author that's also on the spectrum
I found the book to be insightful. The author mentioned calming strategies. I didn't realize that my son asking to hear the same song over and over was calming/soothing for him, but it makes sense. I hope the author writes more books on this subject.
